noob burning laser question

Hello, I've been searching for the answer to this but figured someone on here might be able to answer it easily. I'm trying to figure out if I can use a laser to decapsulate IC's... Does anyone on here have any experience with that? Any idea if it'll be possible/realistic? It would have to be precise and be able to burn different materials, I've only been able to find the lasers that pop balloons and light matches so far. Any info would be apprecated.

I think it's generally done with chemical etching, a laser probably isn't the best tool for the job. You could also try with a razor blade, patience and caution.
