Hi! I am still a noob at this laser thing so I apologize if I am being ignorant.
So I was wondering, what is the best priced yellow pointer I can find? Preferably a pen and not a bulky handheld, and in the 1-5mw range? I am not planning to buy one in the near future, but later when I can afford such things. I *love* laserglow's 593.5 rigel  ESPECIALLY the golden host :worthy: and I also like the dragon laser 589, but i like the 593.5 color much better :) so are dragon and laserglow the only yellow laser sellers other than Chinese sellers that (for the first time ) actually *over*charge for their pointers?

EDIT: I know my request is rather stretching the limit of cost, so i'm extending the guidelines to an RGY pointer can also be acceptable.

EDIT2: I have seen 589nm compared now, and I must say that i like it more than 593.5, any sources?

593.5nm Yellow Premium Laser Pointer
Cheapest source I've found anywhere.

I have already seen that one, and believe it or not, laserglow is cheaper than that. they all seem to be running you 400 dollars, except for dragon, which runs you $320 :) and i'd rather order from laserglow than from an unknown store

EDIT: whoops, nevermind, a 5mw from laserglow will run you 600, so i might check out that place

True. Laserglow charges more for shipping though. The dragon one is a 589 which might be a pro or a con depending on which color you like more.

yes I like 593.5nm more than 589 but I still just can't get over the gorgeous looks of the rigel host  If they had a 589nm in a rigel host I would still buy it. It's very beautiful.

I *personally* wouldn't buy from Laserglow, but do as you wish. Don't expect much in terms of customer service, and for $600 you are paying a very pretty penny for <5mW's of 593.5nm, especially when the cost for that wavelength/power has gone wayyyyyy down!

The 589 Spartan from DragonLasers may be your best bet. Just be aware some members have had trouble in the past. I was going to purchase one, but decided to skip due to the chance of receiving a possible underspec device. Also, 589 won't be much different in terms of color when compared to 593.5 but it will appear more golden.

In the end, it's your hard earned money your spending, so knowing what you are getting into is always important!

Yes I have decided not to buy from laserglow due to the fact that it's 600 bucks for a 5mw :/ I thought it was $400. I personally love the amber color of 593.5, but I have not seen any side by side comparisons. I wish dragonlasers sold 593.5 though :(. I will look into laser fanatics too :thanks:

EDIT: hahahaha never mind, it seems that all other comparisons show 589nm as being way better than 593.5nm, I like yellow much more than orange. I think i'll stick to dragonlasers for now, if I don't find a better source.

Lol, you are welcome! Yeah, it sucks. I like 593.5, but it does have a more amberish color, which is very pretty in its own respect! You could try ordering from CNI and having them send the laser to a member in Canada, then having that member ship it to you if you really wanted!

That might be a problem Isaac. I believe CNI writes <5mW on the pointer boxes and I know you guys have a <1mW limit down there so there is a high chance of customs stopping it.

Not saying they will, but the risk is there :)

I have not yet figured out cni's website and I am unaware of the pricing of the pointer. Keep in mind I did say that I will most likely be ordering this in a year or two and not immediately, since I have things going on that are more important than a 5mw pointer (at least that's what my family tells me  ) But thanks for your help. I have worked out a sort of to-buy list for lasers, since I only own three lasers :cryyy: and I plan on working my way up all the way up to the dragonlasers aurora.

thinking of getting a community service or online job that I will use the money exclusively for lasers, and using my actual job for these darn responsibilities.

That's a good idea, keeping your hobby money and work money separate. To get a quote from CNI you simply must email them and let them know the laser you want. Make sure you tell them you are in Canada! :yh:
