I'm a newbie and dont know a lot about lasers, drivers and detectors.
I'm planning to build a laser measuring distance to maybe not more than 100meters and more than 1 meter.
I decided to use inexpensive red laser pointer and photo detector, found OSRAM SFH 2400 detector at less than 2USD. Do you think this will work? how about the laser driver and laser diode of the laser pointer, are they fast enough to fully turn on the driver and beam reach the target at less than 10nS? after microcontroller switche ON the driver?
