I think my title sounds dangerous, especially since i just discovered the power of lasers....

I couldn't make up my mind between a Blue or Green so i ended up purchasing both.
With as little as I know about Lasers, this question may be stupid.
Does a Blue laser draw more power than a Green Laser. The Blue certainly burns cork a lot faster. I was able to carve my name into the cork of a coaster in minutes. The Green takes a little longer but eventually does leave a mark.

The Blue has 2 x 16340 1200 mAh 3.7v UltraFire
The Green has 1 of 18650 3500mAh 3.7v UltraFire

The Blue laser is a 450nm with 5000mW and lasts about 5-8 minutes
The Green laser is a 532nm with 5000mw and lasts a lot longer.

Is there a reason why the Blue uses up the batteries so quickly.

Is there an adapter you can purchase to use AC instead of batteries, it takes forever to charge them.

P.S. Oh Oh.....
I'll read through the posts but is there any rules against using lasers in the city.
I shot these off my balcony into the neighboring buildings about 3/4 miles away and they showed very brightly on the other buildings.
I had no idea the power these hand held devices carry. Actually i'm a little freaked out. When they hit reflective street signs and car licence plates, they lit up like fire works.

After shining them my building security starting walking the parameter of the building looking up. Obviously they were looking for me. What the heck have i gotten myself into

Welcome to the Forum. I would HIGHLY doubt your green laser is anywhere near 5000mW... also make sure you have safety goggles.

As for 445nm lasers, they usually run at around 1A to 2.2A, while green lasers use anywhere from 200mA to 600mA, so yes blue lasers do use more "power" so to speak

Woa, where to start.

Let start with the safety side of this. To be using any lasers greater than 5mW you need to have appropriate safety glasses. Second, its never a good idea to shine laser at buildings, vehicles, etc. You never know who could be watching and you can potentially damage their eyes even at a great distance. Third, I highly recommend you never shine a laser of any power, glasses or not, at a reflective surface. Its just not a good idea.

Its not the wavelength that determines current drawn on the battery. I really high powered DPSS laser (use the search bar if your unfamiliar) can draw more than a low powered blue laser. In your set up you are running lasers of unknown power from to varying power sources. One of 1200mAh and the other of 3500mAh. That's a big difference in the capacity of bother lasers.

Your 5W blue laser is probably more like 300mW depending on where you got it.
Your 5W green is probably around 50-100mW and emits harmful IR light you cant see.

If your laser has a plug for an adapter then yes. If not then no. (unless you buy a DC adjustable power supply and alligator clip it up)

We have no idea where you live so we cant really help you much. Try updating your profile and making and introductory thread in the welcome sections describing who you are and why you're here.

You're right, i haven't set up my profile yet. I'll do that now. I'm in Toronto Canada. Chuck the Canuck.

Oh and yes, i would never point at a moving car or a person. I do wear the goggles that came with each package. I noticed the reflection doesn't just happen one way when hitting a street sign or licence plate (parked vehicle) I noticed it by accident when swooping past the plate that the light goes in all directions, must be the reflective material on the plate. (same with street signs)

Anyway, i don't want to jeopardize the use of these devices or be irresponsible as now i'm cautious to use them.
There are a lot of buildings with windows around here and it won't be hard for them to see the trail of light. So what do I do with them.

As for the previous posting regarding my specs, maybe I have it wrong but here's what's listed on the receipt and the box. I've included the link.

I have seen alot of Chinese sellers listing lasers at 5000mW or 5W. Its just to sell lasers. Only way to tell would be to have it metered or purchase a laser power meter and meter it yourself.

i believe you as you're far more experienced, but i don't mind saying whatever this is, blew me away.

I have no experience with Lasers and have a whole new respect for them. I thought these were going to just be really strong flashlights, we're talking about a weapons grade light. I don't mind saying that the case and material they built it with is pretty good and I like the weight, it's like a little firearm.

I know from experience what you're saying about the false economy, but if this is half of what is considered quality, then the other stuff is military grade.

It does scare me now that if some child gets their hands on this how easily it would be to cause damage. Anyway, I don't want to build a new caution story, you guys all know what these babies are about.
