Another newbie question: Is there any performance advantage or disadvantage of buying a laser which uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (18650) vs a laser which uses standard batteries such as AA’s, AAA’s, or C's?

Personally my lasers use AAA E2 Lithiums, non rechargable. I have all pen style lasers though. Rechargable lithiums have there advantages but are also larger, more expensive, and somtimes hard to find. Depending on the size and type of the batery.

THere's no such thing as a non-rechargeable battery!

recharging non rechargeable batteries can be done, although it is still pretty risky!
