Post New Here, Looking For A First Burning Laser

Hello, I'm very new to these forums, and am wondering about some good starter lasers. I am looking for a hand-held laser that can burn simple things like matches, is under $100, and that would be easily recommendable. I have only a 5mW red laser that can't do any of these things. I would also prefer if the laser had adjustable focus. Thanks in advance, and please tell me if I am posting in the wrong section.

Edit: Also, I don't wish to build one, because I don't really have enough patience or time to build a pointer on my own, nor the knowledge.

You could always build your own for less than $100.

Edit: Obviously, I didn't read your post well enough

Check out the Buy/Sell/Trade section. You can find many lasers for sale there.

Do a search on the member to make sure you're buying from someone trustworthy first. If you're unsure, ask for a middle man to complete the transaction.

and check this out:

I honestly would make my own laser if I could get the parts and knew how to assemble it, but are there any websites I could buy from?

There's a good handful of websites. I recommend searching the forums for them, and actually taking some time to learn. You can find all the parts you need by going to the buy sell trade section and reading through the stickies. Drivers, hosts, diodes, batteries, all there. It's not too terribly difficult or time consuming to build your first labor, given you take the time to learn.

Aside from that, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS! Please read the stickies and perhaps post a little about yourself and what brought you here in the welcome section =]

If you want to build a laser I suggest taking apart one of your red ones to see what makes them work but if you (like me) prefer to just buy them ready to go try here . Welcome to the forum

Sam, take your time and have a read round the forums.
'Making' one your self can be as simple as soldering two wires together. All the info, and members to buy the parts from, are here.
Have a read around and see what others are doing, you'll learn plenty in the process too ;-)

This laser is from a fairly reputable company and seems to fit your bill...
