Need laser beam visable in dark

I am building an installation that is in a dark room and I need lasers that have their beams visible in the dark with out the need of fog/dry ice.

I was just wondering would a 5mw lasers beam be able to be seen in the dark?

Also do any of ye know where I could get cheap powerful enough lasers that I could see in the dark that have are IR filtered. I found these on kaidomain but I dont know if they are IR filtered.

OK..I will bite on this one.

A red 5mw laser will not give you a beam with out fog/smoke

You need at the least 200+mW of red for you to get even the dimist beam with out smoke/fog.
Also, red lasers don't emit IR

For a green laser...IMO you will need about 50+mW for it to be very visible. Green lasers do emmit IR so a IR filter is recommended, but truely, IMO not needed.
You can see the beam with a 10mW green, but as you may know, the more power that you have, the brighter the beam will be.

Any laser needs some suspended particles in the air (fog machine, Dust,Etc..)
to be able to see the beam...

The more powerful the laser... the less suspended particles are required...

You could have easily found this info on your own with a little research on LPF....

true, but i have yet to find a room that didn't have suspended particles.

I've heard of a "Clean Room" that some IC manufacturers use...

Some residential rooms are less dusty than others... (wood floor VS carpets)
all I was trying to say was... with a 5mW laser you need a lot more "dust" in
the air (particles) to see the beam than with a 100 mW laser...

Is it a photographic darkroom? Remember that you will need some good absorber for the laser light. If you point such laser on a wall or even some surface that isn't white the room will no longer be dark
