I'd like to do something for ultimatekaiser someday, somehow, he offered to help me out with something which was a lot more involved than most would volunteer to help with.

kaiser is a great guy indeed, always willing to help out and share his knowledge about lasers! Hec, I've asked him so many questions and he knew how to answer every single one :D

Here is the thing from my perspective. This was meant as a generalization. I have lasers that were metered and i have ones that are not. What he was saying is not a matter of fact but a matter of personal opinion. Every one has those so why from his perspective is it wrong?

Because a quantifiable, factual measurement will not bow to the whim of his OPINION.

Well this information wasn't based on opinion, in fact not at all. As I listed, I took the information from styropyro's video which compares different powers of green lasers along with information about laser outputs on LPF.

First off Thanks for the negative rep I guess I deserved it right? :wtf:

If you took the time to read what was posted you might not be so upset :undecided: Nothing that was posted was a factual way to get laser power just ballpark figures and it is obvious for normal people.

When you get time head over to the link I posted from Dragonlasers (here it is in case you didn't read it. Burning Laser Pointer : Dragon Lasers) and give them your expert opinion and demand they change their website because of the bad information they have been spreading for probably a decade now. Seriously you time could be better spent. Heck this type of attitude probably could be the cause for the lack of viewership and donations around here the last 6 months.... but ego has it way.

P.S. no one died in the making of this thread

I'll second the issue of air particulates. I used to live in a far less polluted city and I couldn't see the beam of my 200mW 650nm at all. Here it's very visible at night with no extra effort.

Although nothing beats a power meter for measuring power I think it's a good idea to be able to estimate a lasers power by other evidence. Of course it's just a fun way to hone in on a skill ;)

These charts are meant to be ballpark figures to give an idea of a lasers power.

Agreed
Ive successfully lit a match with 50mW but I had to put a black dot on the tip of the match ficus to a tiny point and it took a bit of time.

If you don't have a LPM, a better way to know your power is just to measure the amount of current through the case, and using math and efficiency numbers to find out an average amount of optical power. This uses facts and is semi-reliable (nothing beats the good old LPM though)

I'm not the one stooping to name-calling. If you can't make a reasoned argument and resort to ad-hominem remarks instead, you get red bars. You're fooling yourself if you think I'm the only one that goes by this policy. You can expect another -4 for this one.

I found"smart& handy" safety matches are in a blue and green box to be the best they are a real dark red or brown
But when I can't find them I get a box in my hand and Mark the whole box in one shot to save time .when I find the dark tip s I get a case.
Here is something you can have fun withat Wal-Mart you can get black balloons a dozen for 97 cents I get five or t ten bags at a time. I just tried filling it with water a and I it does work but takes a little more time or power. The best results were with z a lpc826 twincan red at 250 ma I could pop them. At almost forty or fifty feet out side with a slight wind moving my target you know you have a burner when you can light a ciggie use caution not to} point at face though.

Who needs an LPM when you have this guy ?

OMG what a brain dead idiot. I couldn't watch the whole thing. I hate to see a video when he reviews a .357 magnum. I don't think he is all there.

He is not all there, his genetically defective parents must be serious retards. I don't mean to insult handicapped people that were born that way, but some should not handle anything dangerous. I can't believe he shined it in his mouth! And in a careless way that he could have flashed one of his eyes. Try reading the comments, mostly name calling and foul language, as is appropriate in this case.

It's too dark but have a look at this one:
