Hi Everyone, i am brand new to the forum and would really like to build a nice powerful laser, a have a fair bit of electrical knowledge but hardly any knowledge about lasers just the bare minimum like i need a battey, driver, diode and a lens.

i was looking at getting these (links bellow) and sticking them in a project box or something, but i have no clue how to power it! i thought about using a couple 18650's but i have no idea an this is mostly what i need help with.

I take it you are in Australia? If so, please add that to your profile so it shows under your name.

Yes those parts will all work good together, I am not familiar with that heat sink so I don't know what kind of duty cycle you will get, I am guessing something like 45 seconds.

Two 18650 is perfect, my M140 build runs on two 16340 and the batteries don't last long between charging, 18650 will give you a long run time. Just stay away from the lowest quality batteries like those cheapest blue ones with no brand name also the Ultrafire's aren't very good either.

Are you battery's in series or parallel? Thanks

They are in series, if you use that x-drive they will have to be in series. It requires 6V - 9V, but don't try to run it on two 3V batteries, it will drop out of regulation at 6V and have a power drop.

Hi,
I see you been searching by your post, Like PI said all of that will work fine. But the heat sink it will work also but wouldn't you rather have the build in a hand held configuration ??
And if you didn't buy the diode yet may i suggest the PLTB450B diode instead of the M140. Only because it's a more efficient diode Much better than an M140 and the cost is almost the same. The WL will be close also Blue with a hint of violet in it.And you can still run it with the 1.8A Xdrive And two 18650's in series. And if you want to upgrade from the 3 element lens to a G2 lens AixiZ website has them for a good price. There made in China for AixiZ and they work great for my builds very close in comparison to the more expensive G2's. These are suggestions from my experience.Hope this helps you decide you won't be disappointed .

Rich:)
