Unhappy Natural Disasters.

I feel so sorry for the poeple in Japan now, with no homes, nowhere to go and with over 10,000 people missing, maybe but hopefully not dead im in sorrow. I have seen the full force of the tsunami on the news, its devastating..... Houses have been reduced to piles of rubbel and people are too scared to move at th moment bracing them selves for the aftershocks...

there have also been didasters here in Australia, im pretty sure most people heard about the floods, crops were wiped away completely, insurance companies scamming people and claiming flood cover wasnt included in their policy, and people possibly dead and others with no houses or belongings, then after that comes the cyclone which totally devistates everyone

Not to forget New Zealand which had a massive aftershock which trapped numerous people in buildings and crushed others.......

I just feel so sorry for everyone who has been going through hard times, hopefully this string of natural disasters wont continue.

Sorry if i just dampened your mood but i am just feeling so sorry for everyone in Japan, Australia and New-Zealand

if you want to get a point out please reply to this thread, im just so sad and tired at the moment, its 11 pm over here and im sick of my assignment so i decided to express my feelings about all these disasters.....

Default Re: Natural Disasters.

Its up to 10,000 people now. Last time i check it was at around 1,000. My Heart goes out to all of them.

I could not imagine what i would go through if i lost most if not all my loved ones and i was the only one left.

It is Crazy what happened. I cant believe it to this day.

It is a Very sad thing. My soul goes out to all the survivors as well.

I hate thinking about it.

Default Re: Natural Disasters.

That Earthquake was so Big that

Japan moved 13 Feet toward the US

Tens to hundreds of Miles of Ocean floor along the pacific plate drops 2 Feet

That made the earth smaller and it's now Spinning 2 seconds faster for each day

EDIT:

I was thinking about this a few years ago.

Honestly as the climate changes, think about, I think as the atmosphere changes the earth crust will get effected.

What ever is making the earth core so hot (most likely a magnetic mass/atomic factory) has to have the heat released through the crust just like our heat sinks. So as the atmosphere changes that heat exchange has to be altered as well. And so IMO the earth core will gradually keep getting hotter and hotter and we will see more plate tectonic shifts and earthquakes there of. Because it's the lava flows that cause the plates to move off of there convention current.

I'd like to have someone that knows more tell me where I'm wrong and discuss this?

Earthquakes are an unfortunate part of life for many people around the world. The one in Japan was extremely powerful, but i've seen parts of indonesia in ruins too after earthquakes in the last couple of years. Those don't get much media attention, but the drama isn't much less.

I just hope they will be able to stabilize the nuclear reactors. As it is 4 of them seem to be lost forever as it is, and i hope they will be able to contain the cores until their activity is more manageable. Luckily the wind seems to have turned towards the ocean now, so they can vent a bit if they absolutely have to.

The core is hot because of radioactive decay and pressure, as far as I know.
Slowly the Earth is cooling but tidal forces from the moon and other bodies can cause more heat.
The magnetic field that protects life from all the scary stuff in space that will kill us is generated by the dense iron core.

A dense atmosphere can insulate the planet, thus reducing its ability to radiate heat into space (via blackbody radiation).
For example, Venus has an absurdly hot, dense atmosphere and supposedly the greenhouse effect is so extreme that the entire surface of the planet becomes molten every few XX million years and is resurfaced. I don't see this happening on Earth anytime soon, though.
I think that today, the atmosphere is negligible when it comes to how it affects plate tectonics.

Remember that these natural "disasters" are merely natural "occurrences" that have been part of Earth's evolution since it was formed ~4.6 billion years ago.
We just haven't lived long enough (we as a species, that is) to witness this evolution on a larger scale.

That's not to say that it's not all very tragic and that those lives lost are irrelevant.
I'm still waiting for California to get another big 'quake...

I used to live in Sendai and it was a beautiful city. Not overly crowded and summers were just perfect. I had my first home stay in Yurigaoka, Natori-shi. From there I would commute to Soma in Fukushima to visit host grandparents. We'd go to see the 2 famous camphor trees at the local high school. Sadly I have to say I've lost my ex-host family and
3 other close friends from 1996. I heard they are still missing, they have not been found yet. However...many people are in shelters and without power so communication is next to impossible.
NHK has now said that it is more body recovery op now than finding people alive.

Here is what Sendai used to look like.

But like you said it's dependent on how well it can release heat into space.

I'm not saying that it's a huge impact. I just think it has to make some effect on the heat in the center.

If a earth quake can shape the earth and effect it's axis and speed it spins can't the added heat to the "planets heat sink" cause a added temperature to the core?

And any tiny amount would be multiply by the size of the mass correct?

I'm not saying it's a huge impact. I'm just asking does it have some "even tiny" effect to it?

Above >5mW you can damage Your Eyes with a Reflection in 1/100th of a second. It Doesn't Matter How Dim it "Looks"! It is still dangerous!
Above >100 mW you can burn your retina off any glossy surface just Reflecting The Beam off to your Eye!It's More Than Just a Mirror that you need to be Careful Of!!
And remember There is Never A Perfectly Diffused Surface, Do You want to Risk it?!

For the USA: TEXT REDCROSS TO 90999 TO DONATE $10 TO THE RED CROSS
For Canada: TEXT ASIA TO 30333 TO DONATE $5 TO THE RED CROSS

I'm not sure what other countries around the world have set up. My thoughts go out to the people of Japan.

Thanks for all your replies, i will be praying for everyone out there aswell. it is so sad to see whats been happening and btw chezuums were discussing natural disasters and not trying to be smart by replying to No comment by saying you just commented....... seriously

anyway its just shocking to see what has been happening, thank God most of us are in safe places around the world, Sydney in my opinion is extremely nuetral in natural disasters, nothing over here, no cyclones, tsunamis, earthquakes, floods or anything of the sort.

My cousin's dad lives in Japan. I hope things will be ok. I also have family in the Philippines, which was also affected by the shockwave. They are ok thank god. My prayers goes out to those who have been affected by this tragedy.
