So after looking around I decided I didn't like any of the snap fit or spring clip laser tripods so I decided to look elsewhere. What I came across is this: Super Clamp

Smallest it goes is about 1/2", widest is just shy of 2".

You can really clamp down on those heavy lasers that I have seen sagging in the some of the other variations.

Tripod is just some cheapo one I found on Amazon but any one will work.

that really looks like a solid clamp. I've bookmarked it with Amazon. does any metal come in contact with the laser while using?

Nope, it has these rubber "feet" on them.

I guess if you were to really crank down on it the top my compress the rubber enough to make contact to the laser but that would just be an unnecessary amount of force. :beer:
