A while back when recovering early on from my surgery I posted my Star Trek Classic Phaser Green mod build that I worked and completed 2 weeks after the surgery http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/n...hus-far-star-trek-green-phaser-mod-89127.html

The other 3 builds that I did while out on short term disability were these 3 little gems:

The first is my 405nm 670mW stable laser (DTR 12X S06J Bluray Diode In Copper Module W/Driver set to 450mA & 405-G-2 Glass Lens) in a Survival Laser Stainless Steel Host Assembly, Extended Heat Sink & Violet anodized extended length focus ring. I also needed to get Survival Laser's battery contact pill.

Assembly was relatively easy except for getting the battery contact pill into the housing which was very tight.

The next is my 638nm 670mW stable laser in the same host as the 405nm but the module is the Oclaro 700mW 638 Diode In Copper Module W/Flexdrive set to 850mA & G-2 Glass Lens

I love the beam of this one very much. I havent shined it in the sky but have gotten a nice shot at a palm tree at least a quater mile away at night!

The last but certainly not least is my 520nm 180mW in one of Flaminpyro's very cool SH-032 host which is similar to the Survival laser host except it doesn't use a pill and just has an extended heatsink with battery contact board on the end of it! The DTR module is the 520nm Osram PLP520-B1 Diode In Copper Module W/Driver & G-2 Lens and for a focus adapter one of Flamingpyro's extremely cool Hydra focus ring:

With this build I finally remembered to start taking picks while assembling:

(This pic was taken just before I straightened out the shrink tube and then shrank it.)

(This pic is actually one of Flamingpyro's which shows the heatsink & battery contact completed)

This one is very cool in that the beam has good visibility in a moderately lit room and not just darkness!

All three as i put have G-2 lenses on them but I have purchased 3-element lenses for the 405nm & 638nm plus a 2-element for the 520 and will get focus rings for these from Flamingpyro when he can fit me in.

My next build thread will be on my recently finished Star Trek Next Generation Phaser Red Mod with 10 segment led display!

(Yup put a key switch on this one!)

Thank you everyone. I'm enjoying building these and then testing them immensely!

Vortish: I got the the Next Generation Phaser toy (a playmates 1992 version) on eBay for $18 with shipping. you just have to be persistant and keep looking deals will come up. The one thing I found though with the 1992 playmates TNG phaser is that it was rather cramped to fit not only the laser but my 10 segment led display board I built where the plastic fake display that I cut out was, you'll see this when I write up my phaser mod thread soon. Because of this I found and purchased a 1996 Playmate First Contact TNG Phaser which is bigger. I will red mod that one too but not until after I have red mod a Star Trek pilot Capt Pike's laser (red mod because that was the beam in the pilot) & also a Klingon Disruptor that I will green mod first (of which I have all the parts already) before doing the First Contact phaser mod!

BowtieGuy: I really love the way that rainbow of lasers pic came out too!

That is awesome!:) I am a trekkie having watch all of the OS and the other series such as TNG DS9 which is my personal favorite! Voyager, Enterprise, and every movie that has been produced! I even have watch the animated series that came out in the 70's Picard, Richer, Wrorf, and Cisco have been my favorite main characters.. The Klingon and the Romulan distupters are simliar. I would like to see a Type 4 phaser rifle done... The were shot firing a Red and Green beam! I also would like to see one of Kirks phasers from In to the Darkness also done... I think a model of the Galaxy Class Enterprise shooting lasers out of a phaser bank array would look cool. But like I said Im kind of a Trekkie

Thanks vortish! I'm definitely a trekkie too. As a little kid I watched the original series and all of the subsequent ones and the movies (and the cartoon of the early '70s).

I have thought about doing the new Star Trek phaser from the new movies but I'll leave that for down the road.

I've also thought about putting lasers in one of the ship models but not TNG Galaxy class but one again the original series Constitution class Enterprise. The one I've been looking at is this one Polar Lights 1 350 Star Trek TOS Enterprise Plastic Model Kit POL880 PLL880 New | eBay that is 32 inches long and super detailed! Put two 450nm lasers in the right place (bottom center of the primary hull disk) and it would look extremely cool!
