Smart dog! Heck he even knows enough to wear safety goggles! ;)

I wonder what the coefficient of expansion is for the materials used and whether heating or cooling might help.

Well, it is quite scientific approach to get these parameters, however I think taking an experiment with cooling it would be much easier. :D

I had the problem with removing protective cover of my 589 nm Spartan to mount a beam expander when I got it. No force and/or mechanical method without too much risk of damaging surface of host helped. As a very last desperate attempt was temperature change - I put it behind a window (It was freezing outside) for about 2 - 3 minutes and voilà... It was removed very easily after that. It could be a bit of epoxy in threads with combination of slightly missaligned screwing the front cap, as it was not 100 % straight. Not sure which of these two factors was major. What I learned from this was that any even a little change of dimensions might help.

BTW: I saw they use deep cooling of valve seats to fit them into engine block during a factory tour in Maranello (Ferrari). The robots doing this work are called Romo and Juliet (see here). All tour was an amazing experience.

Is that your dog, BTW?

You are moving along very rapidly for being a noob, already have a LPM and buying some upper end laser goodies. At first I thought you might be the help me troll, but your behavior isn't like one, so my first impression was clearly wrong. However, how did you get that lens stuck? I can't imagine a flimsy lens holder spring being stubborn enough to keep the lens from turning. If you don't mind, I bet we can find someone local to help you get it out.

I'm surprised a cat would give a dog such praise.

I was told that I had to be nice, my dog thinks they are related; 2nd cousins on his mothers side, if I'm not mistaken!

Just tested the lens stuck something makes no sense i did the same thing and the lens comes out everytime no way the spring is holding it, the only thing could be the threat on the lens it may be skipping the threat when unscrewing still it will come out i done even worst and the lens comes out, if you cant get it out send it i do it for free

I know DTR would also fix it for free, if that is who he bought it from.

If so and no gentle mechanical method works, I recommend cooling method, might be effective as it is not spring issue likely.

No spring is going to hold that, not those flimsy springs, I like the leather idea or for that matter, rubber, put a good push on it and turn.

It does happen though once in a while no matter how low the odds:(
Also there's the inner lens barrel ring to hold the lens itself, and could be the spring itself was a bit smaller.
This hobby for sure has some weird issue's at times:whistle:
Haven't heard from the OP yet, have we?

I have noticed that DTR has been using much stronger springs recently. They are also very close to the diameter of the cans on the 9mm diodes. I found this by attempting to swap one of the newer beefy springs into my nub44 and noticed the binding as the spring end caught the lens inner ring notches and constricted around the diode can. But I didn't have so much trouble to make a post or thread about it. Like I instructed the OP just keep unscrewing it and it will eventually let go. 2 pages of this. What's going on here?

Hey guys! Wow, thanks for all the great responses. :D

I've been out all day and not online, but I did get a chance to try again at getting this lens out--unfortunately to no avail. :(

I tried wrapping some leather around the lens and grabbing it with a pair of pliers, which worked great, but I only have one pair of pliers, and couldn't get enough grip on the module to get it much torque. I did buy it from DTR, and I have heard his customer service is excellent, but I kinda cheaped out and bought the G2 lens from a Chinese seller to save a few bucks, so I'd feel bad asking him to unstick it for me. Alaskan generously offered to connect me to a person in Seattle who could help though. I'm also going to try to borrow a set of pliers from a neighbour to see if that'll help.

That is my dog in my avatar! His name is Chrono (yep, it's a reference to the video game). Also, Bowtieguy, that is a a super cute dog too!

My bet is you will figure it out before needing help, it can't be that difficult. Is this a DTR laser?
