I don't think whole 20A was going through it. If it would, diode would melt.

But no matter, diode is destroyed as I am most certain it went around 2-3 A through it.

BTW, X2Rick, next time somebody asks "What do you do with lasers" You reply "If you have to ask, you would not understand anyhow".

Will try to answer that next time:beer:

If battery says 2000mAh, it means that when drawing 2000mA out of it, it will last exactly one hour.
Not trying to be a smart-ass here, but:

That statement would be true if batteries were all rated at 1C, for a one-hour
discharge time. But the fact is, most batteries aren't (they are usually more
like C/10, i.e discharge over 10 hours), and when you discharge them at 1C
they would last significantly less then their rated capacity.;)

If you drew 2A from an AA rechargeable (typically 2000mah and above), do you seriously think it would last 60 minutes? I don't think so... ;)

We all know that no battery is ideal and there are huge amount of factors.

I'm just trying to help people understand therms like mAh and mA.

We can deal with realistic conditions and factors later.

But thanks for the explanation anyway :)

In ideal conditions, it's true. Easier to understand.
Why bother people with million therms when you can explain it simply?

Except that never ever happens in the real world, only in physics text books.

If people want to learn, they have to be bothered.
All you had to do was say "roughly" instead of "exactly". ;)

I really don't wanna argue with you, I know that you know what it's like
with real batteries in the real world. :)

I just don't want noobs picking up misinfomation, that they might parrot back later.

Yeah, you're right. It's all cool.

Thanks for clarification there. I just can't sometimes be bothered to type it out.
