Been done before I'm sure but here goes.

Your opinions?

I think it's 488, turquoise'sey from what I've see on videos, but it may not be that way in real life.

im guessing it is seeing as it's almost green and almost blue.

Green for the fact at higher mW it illuminates a whole room :D

Ahh I love them all what can I say.

488 is more of a teal color, and can be had from single line argons or some surplus DPSS (forgot by who maybe coherent?), but there are still some floating around). 473nm is not far off it, however 473nm is a light shade of blue instead.

In the end what you consider beauty is of the beholder. Personally I find 532nm the nicest wavelenth and I like it above the rest.

There were some Coherent OPSL 20mW 488nm labbies on eBay last week, for an starting price of $400 each. The seller had (6x) of them, and I believe ended up selling them as a lot for a unit price of $500.

Not sure if that's good/bad, but it sure would have been a nice wavelength to add to the collection :(

Of the wavelangths that I have seen in person, and there are only 6, I would say that 473nm is my favorite.

Indeed, I'm awaiting my 473 labby, hopefully she will look sweet.

Edit: The contrast between the two blues (445 + 473) on video aren't really that clear.

What is the purpose of these 488's lasers.

Medical properties?

You will be able to tell in person.

For me, 589nm. I have a nice overspec 589nm that goes up to 140mw and the beam is pretty visible without fog. In total dark I point it to the ceiling and it lits the room like with a beautifful golden color.

But it is a matter of personal taste, like many things.

Cheers

488nm is my favorite... it is a LOT different in person than it is in videos. It is defiantly what I would call beautiful.

In a year or two, there will be another wavelength we all want but can't afford :D
