Making a universal Driver

hello guys im new here.
i am 14 yrs old and i love chemistry, electronics and LASERS and surfing.
i was just wondering if there was a way to make a univrsal diver that i could plug and unplug diferent LD of diferent colour and mw.
secondly i just ordered a 10mw red LD and its lense do i need some sort of housing for it or can i just use it as is.
will the 10mw be made to pop and burn?
im in australia anyone know any good cheap sites
