Hey guys its me again as I psted in my last thread I bought and hde 5mW laser pointer well the beam was surging from high to low power so I decided that it was a junk laser so I took out the diode and everything and was looking on amazon for diodes and came across a 1W I-R laser diode with the same specs as my housing and with a price tag of $25 I almost bought it but I decided to check in with you guys first if I bought the diode and a driver for it would it be possible to find a green crystal for it or blue it doesn't matter to me I just want to be able to see where it's pointing so I don't harm anything or anyone

I would go to DTR and get a diode. There is nothing you will be able to do easily that will let you see the IR beam.

Any video camera, digital camera or even phone camera or webcam will allow you to see near IR. Anyway IR laser is not for beginners. It's dangerous, and useless.

There isnt a "green" or "blue" crystal that you can just buy and get the laser you are wanting.... For a green laser, IR passes through two crystals I believe, one to turn the wavelength from 808nm to 1064nm, and another to double the frequency to 532nm. Blue lasers are diode lasers, meaing they are just a diode (like the IR diode you are looking at) that emit 445-450nm straight from them.

For the price of that 1W IR diode, you could buy a 100mw 532nm laser module and be done with it....
