Default Made My First BIG Purchase. What Toys/Accessories Do You Recommend?

Hey friends! I finally went through with it. I made my first high powered purchase. Yes, I have moved up from the pen lasers I have been so fond of for many years. I purchased a 2W 445nm and a 500mW 532nm laser with a 10X Beam expander that I can use on both from JetLasers. I am SO SUPER EXCITED for them to arrive!

Now I have been reading these forums for a few years and have done lots of research, but I wanted to get the most up to date info I could so I made this thread.

First off, goggles. I need protective eyewear for the 2 different wavelengths I purchased. Is there a brand you like best? A place you like to purchase from? I see a bunch of different glasses on Amazon that are under $10. Do I need more than that? I am a huge Amazon customer and buy things all the time from them, so I thought that would be easiest, but I don't want to buy junk.

Next question! What kind of toys do you have for your lasers? Flash paper, things to burn/blow up, prisms or mirrors etc. One thing I really liked about WickedLasers was the fact that they offered different lenses that would create different shapes/illusions to look at. I didn't want to give them my business though so I had to erase that idea from my head. What are the goods?

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out with this!

safety glasses I have seen that block 445 also block 532. jetlasers are IR filtered, so you don't need glasses blocking IR. If you get the lasers before the glasses, do not view the dot at close distances, theyre too bright to look at without protection at close range

you already have the expander

diffraction gratings are fun

Great post/thread idea.

First surface mirrors (all from big screen tvs)
A few prisms
Beam splitters
Diffraction gratings
Lenses from anything and everything that has them.
Some tri pods with clamps to hold lasers for projects or photos
Burning stuff is a matter of what you feel like burning
Something to store laser in (special box)
Batteries and chargers
Safety glasses
Multi Meter
Small hobby motors

And a LPM which I would like to own. Looking forward to others ideas here

Best safety glass website is http://www.survivallaser.com/Eagle_P...8_2780808.aspx

These glasses in the link are highly recommended by many on the forum, however I still use standard eBay glasses.

This look pretty decent. I guess I have to decide if they are $30 more decent than the glasses on Amazon.

Thanks to those who contributed some answers so far. Looks like a lot of fun toy ideas.

First off, Congrats on getting your first High Powered Laser from Jet Lasers, I just recently purchased a 1w 520nm PLE-Pro from them and also got these exact pair of glasses from them as well. And before I got these glasses I was also using the free or cheap red ebay laser safety glasses that come with those 1w-2w 445nm lasers you always see. Now, I wont ever go back to using those cheap ones anymore and am actually investing in getting more or better laser safety glasses for friends and family to wear, and also to block out other wavelengths. Not only do they fit so much better, but they are also not as dark as the red cheap ones and are only slightly tinted so you don't feel like you are wearing dark sunglasses. Plus, if you wear glasses like me, they also fit fine over your glasses too. And even tho they dont have adjustable legs like the ebay ones (which barely helps), They fit comfortably on me, and my 5 year old daughter can put them on without having them fall off her face. So I am confident to say they will fit just about anyone comfortably. And I haven't even mention how well they block out or absorb all the green and blue laser light compared to the ebay ones. So Yeah, these orange tinted eagle laser safety glasses are totally worth it.
