I just received this laser from lazerer.com and the power certificate says 110 mw without the IR filter and 5mw with the IR filter. So is it only a 5mw laser then? It also burns nothing and I thought over 90mw was supposed to. Just wondering if I just bought a $60 5mw laser? Thanks

I'll post some pictures later (at work now) I'll also post the certificate maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I can't get it to burn anything so far.

I think you misunderstood the IR filter bit. The IR filter blocks all wavelength except for IR, so basicly you have 5mw of IR.

Yeah^ Mine (same model, from lazerer) had about 15mw of IR. still pretty crappy at burning.

Is it a classic host? which lens is screwed, the one you focus or the small white one glued onto the diode assembly.

no its the stick. the one in the topic. the focus lens. its such a tiny hole into the recessed lens.

oh ok, I found out a way to unscrew my classic's focusing lens, allowing it to be replaced etc. not sure about the stick though

So why don't it burn very good? I think its an awesome laser and tons of fun at night but it'd be fun to be able to do the normal tricks and such. Also how far away does the dot have to be before you can look at it without frying your eyes. Thanks guys I'm learning :)

Well, get some goggles, there is no "safe" distance to look at a 100mw laser beam. Best goggles for good price are Eagle ones from survival lasers.

it only burns so much. its not like its a 300mW green. if your comparing green to blue in burning abilities, theres no match. just how it is when green reflects off of everything. try a leather wallet and see how long it takes to start smoking..
