By testing if it was safe what precautions did you take?
Did you use a laser power meter to test the output after going through your safety glasses?
And with these tests did you have a second pair of goggles to test your original pair or did you just take a chance and point it straight through with the chance of a reflected beam coming back into your eyes.

Those look like eagle pair glasses btw? If they are and you did do extensive testing how did they pan out power wise after passing through the lens

Yeah, it's probably better to have 4th graders smuggling alcohol and getting drunk behind parents' backs than having 4th graders interested in lasers and electronics who are getting hired by laser companies.

Way to go man.

I can see there's awful amount of hate simply for the sake of hating, than actual mature comments about the situation backed up by reasoning and logic.

I'm no fan of Wicked Lasers but damn, this thread isn't exactly one of LPF's proudest either.

I have been in touch with and getting better and better friends with everyone at WL until eventually Steve contacted me as he wanted to implement a live chat system and he thought based on my posts on the forum I'd be perfect for it! Yes, I may be a kid, but I do my job well. I have helped so many people and made so many orders. You can all hate on me all you want, been there done that. I've been on youtube for quite a while now. Multiple years, I have learned not to let haters get to me, I do my job well, and I really don't care what you guys think of me. BTW, about that video of me using the mirror. I was very hesitant about making that video, because of eye issues, so I did numerous tests with the lasershades to see if they were really capable of protecting me in a situation where most likely the laser would be pointed directly at my eye. After these tests, I concluded it was definitely safe to make the video, so I did. I made sure everything was safe. My next video is actually gonna be a video discussing the precautions I take when using my lasers, and letting everyone know that I know about laser safety. So, just letting you guys know, and confirming some things. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Sincerely,
Jarrett at Wicked Lasers AKA cvbcbcmv

P.S. I find it kind of low how you guys are judging my maturity level when you guys are the ones trolling me on the internet, just sayin'.
Welcome to the Forum...

You make it sound as if we should all know who cvbcbcmv is...
Sorry... I don't...

As a Moderator on another forum you would think that you
would know better than to post a brick of text. Just sayin'...

Prey tell... what Laser Power Meter and other Laser

that you as a "seasoned professional" deemed safe...

I don't lie to people, especially on a forum. That is just wrong. And one person who mentioned this thread commented on youtube that he hopes I die in a hole and burn my retinas out. Is that not trolling? Anyways, I hope you have decided to grow up, and not keep laughing at how Wicked Lasers hired a teenager, even though he is a great worker and does his job well. OK, I am not nine. Like, watch some of my other videos, do I really look nine? You guys are WAY off. I am 13, I don't know how that's so hard to believe, as I'm bigger than a lot of kids in my school. I'm also a starting tackle on our school football team, so I'm no puny kid. I got into lasers a year ago yes, but I have learned a lot since then. Also, about me dropping out of school. I work so hard at school to do everything very well, and get straight A's because of that. I don't half-ass stuff, I work really hard. The summer between this year and next year I am taking a class that will cover my whole summer of an advanced math class so that going into high school I am at a higher level and can take more advanced classes so I can move towards my dream of going to MIT. That's my dream, but I doubt that's gonna happen. I'm taking that class because in 5th grade (which seems quite a while back to me) Whether you got into a higher level math was based on 1 test, and I had a bad test day. I had gotten no sleep the previous night, and I almost fell asleep on the test. And about my tests, yes I was wearing another pair of glasses while doing the tests, and I do not have an LPM, yet. I'm getting one soon. What I decided is if I could make it possible for any laser light to come through at all I would not do it, and none came through. And when I was in that dark bathroom with the glasses on, I saw nothing. No blue, everything was dark, just the faint orange that you see from the glasses on the wall. OK, that's it, I'm done posting, and sorry I didn't split my paragraphs, bash me all you want, call me 9, I don't care, you won't make a difference in my life. While you guys are laughing at me and calling it all stupid, it's funny how people I don't even know come up to me at school, and this actually just happened Friday. I was in the bathroom when to other kids from 8th grade came in, I didn't know them. They said, "hey is it true you make $xxx a month? I said, "yes I do, working customer support for Wicked Lasers" and they say WOW and as they walk out of the bathroom I hear their conversation continue, (I guess the guy was on my football team a few years back, I didn't recognize him at first) "who was that?" J.T xxxx, dude he's gonna be a millionaire when he grows up, he's so fucking smart." "man how does he get a job! I want a job! Not making that up,t hat exact conversation happened. err... I'm letting you guys fuel me. I'm done, I said it, I'm done.

It seems there's a lot of hating, some deserved, some not. On safety: you didn't seem to know the OD of your glasses. That should be written on the lenses of the glasses, unless you don't have actual laser safety glasses but some cheap immitation crap. Not that the OD mentioned on the glasses means it are real laser safety glasses, but no mention of an OD or rating definately means it's fake.
Second, you shine the pointer in a room with mirrors and hit yourself. That's a fail, regardless of your glasses. You never should do that and what you did was dangerous. Not only dangerous as in "bad idea" but dangerous as in "can go horribly wrong".

You mention to be a moderator. I don't find the brick tekst and double post that annoying, but it's not a surprise people jump on that if you mention to be a moderator, which would mean you should know better.

Some people are overreacting however and I don't think that's fair considering you do write proper and polite english, but they do have a point.

@Johntheripper: goggles that melt in seconds are crap to begin with, but these are not coated goggles, so there is no coating to fail. Considering the noname glasses used safety is a valid concern.

EDIT: Not learning and still posting a block of tekst. I don't mind somebody doing it the first time, but you should know better.
And the MAJOR point: you seem to find yourself quite smart and you give yourself all kind of compliments and claim all kinds of achiements. That does not go down well on the internet, and you should know! Any futher bashing of you is provoked, so don't whine about it. The respected people here get their compliments from other people, They don't state they're smartass or talk about what great job they have, they earn their respect by sharing their knowledge and skills without the bragging.

LAF! I like that one I think we should pass a law for capital punishment for people who lie on forums!!!

I agree with Eudaimonium about the hating just for hating and that we (as a forum/group) are/should be better than that.

Maybe WL is trying to improve themselves by actually hiring people to help that can actually speak english?? "Now you must turning your onings laser and to not the making sure of looking onto the lights"

I bet he works cheap, hell I bet they pay him in lasers.

Anyway yes he is a kid, yes he could stand to learn more, I don't think he's so immature or un-knowledgeable that he couldn't possibly help WL customers out.

I don't judge people until they give me a reason to do so.

the glasses I used are Wicked Lasers glasses that came with my arctic. You guys must admit, we sell nice glasses. And I will admit, it might have been a bit foolish to make that video, I didn't really take into account what could happen to my skin. I'm glad nothing did happen, it was foolish, I apologize, it was a risk, and I took it. I feel stupid, but I do know a lot about safety, I made 1 mistake, Everybody makes them. It could have been a lot worse. I was not trying to brag, and I am not cocky, I was trying to prove a point that I'm no school dropout. I'm working very hard towards my dreams, and am offended you would assume I'm a school dropout.

lol! I had to burn you for this. Your in 8th grade buddy, You have no idea what you in for. Kids in High school are going to give you a very hard time about this, I would know, it happened to me. Plus, I don't care if your taking whichever classes in middle school, I mean you havn't even hit puberty yet. People on here have 40x more experience then you, and I will bet big money, that you will be blind before your 18.

FWI: High School is much harder then Middle School, so if you think your gonna sail through it like middle school, your about to get a slap across your face.

Ripper... I'm assuming you gained vast amounts of maturity during those three year???

This thread doesn't seem to reflect that...

I'm 36, and I have a 13 year old... granted, they are not the most "mature" beings... but I'd trust my 13 year old over any 16 year old with most tasks in life... you forgot, most 16 year olds think they already know everything... at least the mushy brained 13 year olds often times are willing to learn.

-just my 3 cents (price increased due to inflation)

I can agree with that.... but not with this self tooting 13 year
old...

He's been repeatedly asked to not Brick his text and has learned
nothing.

His head has been so inflated by WL and himself that he seems
to think of himself as a Laser world God....

lol mushy brained 13 year olds. I don't think mine was that mushy when i was 13? Usually kids are safer, because their parents are up their butt about safety. A person who is 16+ won't have a person up their butt about safety, and it will be their decision themselves to do stupid things, or do the smart thing and be safe. It's like, an 8 year old will always wear his helmet, because if he didn't he will get in trouble with his parents. So in a way, chances are, if a kid has a good caring pair o' parents, then their should be no reason for their child to be in any danger, even if they are doing a dangerous hobby, (Like playing with strong lasers)

Jerry: He did answer your questions but in his text brick...
I don't feel like re-reading it to find the exact quote so I will paraphrase...

He does not have a LPM but he is going to buy one soon. (Maybe his new job will help him pay for one?) He claims his testing involved shining the laser through the glasses and seeing if any light came though and that he did not see any. He also states he was using the WL glasses though... People here have said they tested those and they were utter crap (is that correct?)

And RE the 5th grade he said

Also 13 year olds are less likely to have money or the resources to buy things like powerful lasers. I agree with ddewees that _MOST_ (not all) 16+ year olds think they know everything, that they are invincible and that everyone else is wrong and quite often do stupid things...

I remember we had some out of town cousins in and one of them was 16ish and the other was in the 12-13 range and the older one told the younger one that they were too immature to play with them... I didn't really understand this (as I think of both groups as kids) until my mom pointed out how that age group thinks of others slightly younger... the 3 years really doesn't make you that much more mature or knowledgeable, it just makes you think you are.... If you don't believe me you will understand when you get older.

Thanks for reading that Block of Text...

So it seems he has no clue of how to test Laser eye protection
properly...

It seems his test equipment consists of Crappy WL shades...
a Bathroom.... a light switch and his own eyes...

Yeah... that's the guy I want testing my Laser Goggles....

Yes it was reported on the Forum by several Members that
the Wicked Shades are pure Garbage for the much less
than 1W 445nm Laser they screwed up on..

Fixed the 5th grade thing...
