Hello all, I haven't been very active on the forum, but I have had a few lasers...a home built red dvd diode burning pointer, and a couple green ~35mW's...

I am looking for another burning laser, either BluRay, or a Greenie. That's where my decision needs to be made, I have looked specifically at a couple of lasers from O-Like.

200mW Transformable focusable green laser£>5~200mw green laser pointer£>Laser&lighting products£>www.0-like.com -- 200mW Transformable focusable green laser

New Style focusable blu-ray pen 150mW£>405nm blue-violet laser£>Laser&lighting products£>www.0-like.com -- New Style focusable blu-ray pen 150mW

I have chosen these lasers tentatively, as I have heard good things about them, and about O-like. If anyone could inform me on which might be a better buy, any reasons not to buy either or both, or any alternative lasers that I should look at, that would be great.

I basically want to know what will be the best burner for me, of many objects. I will be purchasing goggles/glasses as well, for any one concerned with safety :)

Thank you all for your time and input

Aaron

Hey!

I think you should get the Dilda. Its REALLY cheap now, and its a great 200mw burner.

However, its red.

It's a toss-up between the two. They both will burn. The Blu-Ray will have to be focused more carefully then the green.

Blu-Ray burns better then green.

As HanMan5000 said the 200mW dilda (old style) is one of my favorite burners. Puts out 223mW+ with 3.6V batteries.

I also have problems focusing Blu-Rays and greens.

It might just be my lasers, but the red dilda seems to burn better then any other of my other colors. It does have the highest power however. (for the time being)

Thank you HanMan and Greenmechanic, I will take that into consideration. Can anyone else that possibly owns one of the two lasers I mentioned in the OP give me some input on there capabilities, etc...?

thanks

If you only have 35mW green, going for a focusable 200mW greenie would be more fun IMO. You can always stare a the beam when you are tired of burning LOL Or you can impress someone else. Green one also uses rechargeable batteries of much larger capacity. Saves you money and time in the long run...

Ehhh I havent really bought those models before, so I cant say anything. Reason being is because if I wanted to buy a 200mw, I would get it from rayfoss becuase it looks cooler than that little thing thats like a tiny pencil. But yeah, I'm sure you will be impressed wth its power. I've never gotten a blue ray before though..

As for what they can do, the green SHOULD be able to:
Engrave/burn into plastic
Smoke dark colored things
Burn your skin
Pop dark colored balloons
Very visible beam in night
Somewhat visible beam in light
Burn your eyes out without goggles
Go really, really far.

And more!

will the bluray burn better than the green? which would burn more objects?

would it be better for me to ask o-like not to ship batteries, and just purchase a good set of rechargeable ones locally or somewhere else online? also, is there a particular type of battery hat would be better to use for either laser?

thanks

Blu-ray will burn better/more things, especially as it is focusable too and just slightly less powerful.

That makes sense if your country's customs aren't laser-friendly. Shipping batteries separately or buying them from another place is safer then. The downside is that you'll end up paying slightly more and waiting for batteries longer than for the laser, as o-like ships faster than most online shops.

also, is there a particular type of battery hat would be better to use for either laser?
With blu-ray pen you'll have to use AAA primaries.
With greenie you have more options, like
DealExtreme: $5.08 Ultrafire 3.6V 880mAh LC 16340 Protected CR123A Battery 2-Pack
or
DealExtreme: $8.01 TrustFire Protected 18650 Lithium Battery (2400mAh 2-Pack Gray)

Are the batteries that come with the green 200mW laser from O-like:-

rechargeable batteries or disposable & are they good batteries?

Would i be better off getting my own batteries & can i use lithium disposables until my seperate batteries arrive?
