And yet we are back to the custom builds......your only option is go to the B/S/T section, find a host you like and then find a builder to put everything together. Send the host to the builder and pay them to put it together. Only option you have unless you feel comfortable soldering a $800-900 diode

EDIT:
You can get one already built from olike . Wired host, but they are ready to go.

$945 + shipping for the WORLDS UGLIEST HOST......Thing is hideous, looks like an old lipstick case

So guys.....

Can we officially say 520nm is starting to become as common as 532/650/405/445, or not yet? :p

OR contact this guy for a custom host: http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/m...illing-turning-polishing-anodizing-78525.html

IMO the host of the O-like laser is kind odd and ugly if 1W 520nm I would get it custom.

But anyway I don't really see the point of getting a 1W 520nm right now this is some kind of diode that will go cheaper pretty fast as the 445nm or the lower powered 520nm diodes. Of course you will be one of a few to own a 1W 520nm but in a few months I predict that it will cost 2/3 or the half.
So spending 1000$ now and in hald a year it's only 750$ and not so unique anymore :undecided:

Where 532nm DPSS doesn't seem to get much cheaper in the next years maybe even more expensive when the green diodes replace them in most applications.

I'm not a very experienced builder but I know a supplier of modules of 532nm 2W at 2mm diameter and 1.5mrad and I think this would be way more unique
I'm willing to do a custom laser for you with a good builder like Blord and MrCrouse.
That would the a challenging and enjoyable thing and would cost around the same (talking with the supplier about the price of the module right now)

@ $750/diode not many will buy it. People are saying unless its under $200 they wont even touch it. I dont blame them, plus the OP said within 6 months so wait 4 months and if they drop, they drop. If not then oh well

Well those one or two guys with Hercules lasers will be owners of such diodes. But for us mere mortals its a bit out of reach.

Not trying to be a dick or anything but as stated I will be buying this in 6 months. Might as well wait a few months to make the final decision. I'm probably gonna go custom then. Also I don't Really need to have a unique wavelength, I just want the brightest wavelength at the highest power, but 520 is only like 11 percent less bright but at the rate I could save on it in a few months and put it towards more power or something, it sounds better. And from what I understand from a previous post, the 520 has a better heat reduction method? Or like a higher duty cycle?

IMHO the best advantage 520 has over 532 is NO MODE HOPPING and WAY MORE STABLE. I also prefer the more minty green to the 532. when comparing the two, it does make the 532 seem more yellow. note that these new 1W 520 lasers will have bad divergence, I believe (but don't quote me) they have divergence comparable to current 9mm 445nm diodes. not good, the only laser I have seen that's worse is the mitsubishi 638nm diodes

No problem was just an offer :)

Yes the diode is simply more efficient and so it gives of less heat.
It's also smaller than a 532nm module and so you have more space for heatsinking.
Diodes are more stable than dpss without TEC and ktp heating
That all lead to a longer duty cycle for diodes

Only the Beam specs of a diode aren't as good as dpss.
The diode beam will more or less rectancular and diverge faster
BTW the 11% depend on how we can push this new diode with the datasheet specs it would be Beam: (532nm 2000mw) vs. (520nm 1000mw)

You'll see in 6 months this will be much cheaper
And you can add a few lasers to your 1500$ list ;)

Just thought you might use your budget to get something really unique
like 2W 532 :p

edit: remembered this vid of styropyro that's how green lasers over 1W look like : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5HjdmVcoDw

You can also ask CNI to make another 556nm custom build

Or you can try asking the only 2 users who own them, but they most likely won't sell for $1,500.

Yeah but you won't reach the brightness he wants with a 556 nor a 561. Per mW yeah, but overall never with those...

IIRC the B1 is a multimode, right? So I wouldnt say that the 1W 520 would have horrible divergence since the B1 is WAYYYYYY better than the 445nm multimodes. We can only hope that they have found a way to make the multimodes have better divergence. We will only know that after ARG does his tests. Diode probably wont be in until a month or so, until then we can only guess. IIRC there was some specs by a chinese company on divergence and it looked really good but again thats what they say so I dont believe it until tested.

Only time will tell
