I'm not sure what's a more interesting story...this...or teens that get drunk rectally (which was on the news).

I like the part where they say, "it's cheap, easy to get and it can take down a plane" ?? Uh... yeah. So can a gun or any number of things.

Probably in the not too distant future any type of laser will become very hard to get. Might be a good idea to stock up on what you need for experimenting and hobby purposes now. Wit all the hysteria I am sure the lawmakers will eventually get most of this stuff banned,

Wow, what a melodramatic, over the top spot. I put my 2 cents in as well. Dislike that video to bury it in the ratings.

From what I have heard recently, there has been a large increase in the number of laser related airplane incidents in the past year. This is an issue, and I see no reason to dislike the video. Yes they are being melodramatic and may be exaggerating, but isn't that exactly what they need to be in order to stop idiots from pointing lasers at planes?

I don't argue with the fact that lasers improperly used do pose a threat to aircraft pilots but that type of reporting is misleading.

That video spot is blaming the laser instead of the idiot pointing it at the plane. So should we just legislate everything potentially dangerous out of existence?

I guess now that Bin Laden is dead laser pointers are the new terrorism. At least this week....

I do not think you should infer that from a video promo. Shouldn't we wait for the actual video before judging its content?

True, but from the promo it doesnt look promising. Im interested to see how the story is presented though. We shall see.... Reminds me of the attack that was made on that .50 cal rifle a few years back. Hopefully we will see level headed coverage of the story and no repurcussions on the laser hobby.

thanks all on getting on this .. the hype is that plans are getting hit but when you look t the data it like 3 or 4 plans over all and it not huge number like every plan in the country .. this is getting out of hand and over hyped ..and will effect our hobby greatly .

thanks nothing back staying on them as I want my side of what they saying..

Ok, here's a link to the "news" story in case you guys missed it:

Call Kurtis « CBS Sacramento

Notice some of the video clips in the story, how much permission did they get for that...or don't they need it?

Some of you are "famous" lmfao

Posting on YouTube become public domain i think.

I Love it they keep saying how it can KILL People and then when the guy describes it "If You Get A Strong Enough Laser at the Right time in Final Approach Absolutely!"

Now I Agree with what they want to do and make the idiots who point it at them to goto jail. That makes Perfect Sense. It can hurt them and at least flash blind people So Thats Messed Up. Who Are The Idiots doing this Honestly?

The more they put it on the news the more people will know about them and theres a Really Bad Part of Our society that could exploit them and then we would see a Crack Down Like You Never Imagined.

Yeah I was going to edit out the part of my post regarding permission, cause I realized it was public domain, but it was up long enough I didn't want to have someone respond to a question that is no longer there.

I get the points they are trying to get across, but really, come on...don't report on something you have no clue about. There are laser hobbyists, just like there are gun, explosives, chemical, etc. hobbyists and other things that are dangerous. It's just not professional for the story to target anyone owning a laser in general.

On a side note, they used a few clips from styropyro it seems :p
