Well today i came home, and went to use the bathroom, but AGAIN my little sister left the toilet clogged... not too bad right? it getts better, she tryed to un-clog it with the toilet CLEANING brush, which did NOT work, so she walked across the floor dripping shit filled water the whole way over to the shower where she dropped a HUGE chunk of it on the rug, then left the shit covered brush in the shower...

Its hard when you have 20 n00bs a week asking the same questions that the other 1000's of n00bs asked before him. We have a few good younger members helping with the questions, but it not enough. We have a saying. "We help people that help themselves". When you get a member, that has not read one thing, and he wants to know what green laser to buy, it gets frustrating. All the info is out there, its just most n00bs dont want to do the work to find it. Also there are tons of n00bs who just want to buy a laser and nothing else. They lurk around doing nothing but asking dumb questions till they find the laser they want. After a year or so pf this, you can understand why some members get short with people.

I lurked here almost a month before signing up so that I knew a little before taking the plunge. To me this is common sense, to other not apparently. I guarantee if you truly want to be educated about lasers, and put your time in, you will be embraced.

When I came to LPF, I had a knowledge of electronics. I was able to contribute almost immediately. Most of the noobs seem to want to be spoon fed information and will not do basic research.
This hobby requires basic science knowledge and most of them don't know Ohm's law and don't want to know. The building and use of lasers is a rather advanced scientific hobby and we can't be constantly trying to teach high school science (basic electronics) here.
As many "vets" keep posting -- "READ, READ, READ" . Advanced information relating to gas laser power supplies, optics and scanner systems, while having info here, may require advanced questions. Those asking advanced questions usually get good answers although sometimes, I get no reply !!
There is a difference between a constant voltage source and a constant current source and understanding basic electronics (Ohm's Law) will usually answer those questions.

A little extra thought here.
I often see vets and not quite vets trying to help a noob build a laser. The noob wants to run his LD at the MAX, say 400 mA, and he has no test equipment or knowledge of electronics. The vet replies that with his circuit, he needs a resistor of 0.4 ohms to get 400 mA. He goes through the calculations to demonstrate the logic. The noob does not understand that electronic components have tollerances rated in percentages and finds sadly that his circuit with his components outputs 450 mA due to tollerance accumulations and he now has an LED :-(
This is my first visit to this thread and my last. It also tells me why I usually make no replys to noob questions. Often times they are poorly worded, gramatically incorrect and display a total lack of basic electronics.
Years ago in Ham Radio, we had builders and appliance opperators. The appliance opperators were not held in high reguard then either.
Sorry but that is the end of my rant.

They were like cats pretty much, but smelled like ferrets. I got rid of them when they gave my GF a heart attack when one got into the house.

I've got one, why are about half of all LPF vetrans I've talked to complete asses???? Most of them need to get a f*****g life and stop trying to tell all the beginners how dumb they are before trying to ACTUALLY HELP!!!! I've been watching the forum alot the last few days and I see this more and more. Rude vetrans telling anyone under a certain "rank" how dumb they are for posting, tell them their question has already been answered. I'm sorry that I haven't spent the last THREE YEARS of my life watching EVERY POST that comes across this forum. To all you rude vets; remember the beginning, before you got into making your own lasers from the host-up? Remember before you got into Co2 lasers and Argon lasers? Ya, you might remember that, if you think back a few thousand dollars and a few thousand computer-staring days... You had all these "stupid questions" that new guys have. Please try to be a BIT more friendly?

maybe you can enlighten us as to which Veterans you are calling A$$es..

Jerry, I think you should read more closely what you took the time to highlight excessively. I never said I was the one here reading them for three years of my life. I said the vets, obviously. I never claimed to know any more than the next noob, in fact, I probably know less, but do realize that I have much to learn yet... I probably need to revamp that statement, I don't mean the ones I've personally talked to, convorsations I've read through. I've seen it and it angers me.
