It seems that some LPF members have started a wiki dedicated to lasers. For those who don't know, the wiki can be accessed here.

I changed one line from:

[highlight]Multiline argons emit several wavelengths as one 488nm beam[/highlight]

to

[highlight]Multiline argons emit several wavelengths as one beam, which can be split via prism into their individual wavelengths.[/highlight]


One common misconception here is that argon is '488nm'. But a multiline is a bunch of different lines all coming out as one, and while this beam contains 488nm light, it cant be considered a 488nm beam.
