HI all,
I'm new to lasering and trying to gather as much info as possible. I'm considering setting up a laser system on my tabletop CNC for doing 3D subsurface engraving on Acrylic and Crystal. I'm considering a 532nm, CW
SSDP laser but would like to find out from the members what might be the best laser for my application and /or if there are any systems that are complete for this application that I could retrofit after removing my spindle.

Any info or direction will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Greg

your better off with 445 or Ir for your purpose. 532 would need a lot of power +2 watts to get that done and I still do not think it work like you want. you could do it with +2 to 4 watts of 445 at slow speed. they selll 10 watt diodes in ir or infrared and that would be the best but you will need Safety glasses for any laser

Hello, I'm Newbie on laser like Greg.
I think I have same question with Greg. I want to build 3D crystal Subsurface Engraving using my DIY CNC.
I had search information about this engraver, all 3D Crystal subsurface engraving machine use green laser 532nm. Laser type DPSS/YAG/Q Switch often use according to their brochure at 2000 - 4000hz. They could make a 2000 - 4000 dots/second to marking the crystal.
I'm very interest with this engraving, but no many clue found on internet.
Maybe someone in this forum have information to build this laser?
What laser type to use, laser power & driver, Lens etc?
Thank's and sorry for my English
