Since they are around $8 a piece I would get 2 as the ratio always seems to be 1 out of 2 is alot stronger than the other. You have the batteries and charger already.
They also are focusable and yes way over spec that can do 50mw to 80mw.
I wouldn't give up on your other just yet either, I have a 75mw Optotronic unit that struggled to pop a black balloon with those carbon heavy duty's and with alkalines it was instant:)

Can confirm on the 532s lasting longer, at least longer than the 405s do. Had two 405s die in <5 minutes. Both 532s 301s I've ordered are still rocking along nearly a year later.

Way overspec too (one moreso than the other), the one I metered is doing 90mW - possibly more with a fresh charge. Ordered mine through GearBest (Who have been good to deal with on any issues I've had with other orders!).

Wowser! This 301 is pretty crazy... It doesn't burn or pop anything, but the beam is ridiculous. drawing stuff against the trees in the distance is pretty awesome :) I can't burn anything, but that is ok. I bought a second one from another supplier. I will compare them with infrared thermometer. As for being focusable... All the way screwed in is tight, taking it out makes it spread. No where to go with it really!

How many of you use glasses? I enjoy seeing the beam. One of the best parts! I am very careful not to shine it at mirrors, people or windows directly infront. I wonder if glossy paint is dangerous? Or are the 301's pretty safe short of holding it in someones eyes?

It's bright enough inside for the spot on the wall to tire your eye's that's for sure. You can view the beam from the sides with really no issue's but any type of burning you will need glasses, even trying to light a match. Out side you should be ok without glasses.
Laser's like very dark colors as far as burning. This 301 has the potential to burn electrical tape, a black balloon or a balloon marked with a black sharpy. You can focus it to a fine point at about 3 or 4 inch's away from the tip to light a black tipped match "this is a point before it spreads out over distance when you play with the focus knob"
It seems your not to interested in burning but more for the beam but at least get some cheap better than nothing glasses. You will get curious at some point and they are a must.
I would avoid glossy surface's and there is some IR in these 532 but all in all its safe.

Should be able to burn as GSS stated - just not all that well. Just need to focus it to a point. Screwing the lens all the way out will make it spread at a distance, but up close - a few inches from the aperture - the beam will be focused to a small point.

Not sure what you intend on doing with an IR thermometer?

Glossy paint could be dangerous, depends on how far you are from it. Best just avoid it if you can - although if you've played around for a while you'll see the reflection is directional, and you'll be able to tell where it's going before it enters your eyes so it's easy enough to avoid that issue.

May have enough power to light a red tipped match too, mine sure does. Actually does better than the Sanwu Pocket series for those due to the colour.

I like my red 301 since it's 110mw peak and I can fully defocus it to use as a red light plus with a good 18650 it hardly uses any battery power. If you focus it to infinity it goes pretty for for cheap laser.
