Laser pointer idea

1-Adjustable Voltage Regulator LM317T
1- 100 ohm Potentiometer
2- 10 ohm Resistors
1- 1N4001 Rectifier Diode
1- 47uf 35v Capacitor
1- Power Switch
Using 3v going into the driver setup

If anyone could give me any tips on something else I should do please tell me if it will work or not and other opinions... Thank you!

Will this work with a 7.2v when the diode has a max of 3v

You have to overcome the voltage drop of the LM317.

So with the diode at 3v max it would be a good idea to use 7v
