No problem. Just be careful! Playing with beams is one thing. Playing with beams going through and off optics is a whole different game. You get focused spots and deflected beams where you'd never guess them to be. There's very good reason all those companies make all that hardware for holding and positioning optics in laser beams.
Be extra careful about back reflections. You'll be pointing a beam into a telescope and all of a sudden a fully reflected reflection comes shooting out back through the eyepiece toward your face! Or you'll be looking down into the tube to see where the beam's going and then ... BEAM IN THE EYE!!!!!
Yes especially with newtonian type scopes
