I'm looking to either buy or build a laser that I will be able to use for spotting while hunting varmints. We go in groups and it tends to be a pain explaining as to where you see something, and just pointing it with a laser would be much easier... if it is possible.
Typical range will be 100 yards or so, more would be great, but I am doubting that is possible without spending loads of money. We usually go in the afternoon when it is cooler out and isn't quite so bright, so its not going to be in full sunlight or anything. Again, still not sure if this is possible, that would be why I am here asking The fields are a yellowish greenish color. I also don't care what the form factor/size/weight is (reasonable tho, I don't want something that is 10 pounds lol). I've seen the square heatsinks with diodes in them and that would be fine, and then run the wires to a box for the driver, switch, and power source.
I've got decent electronics knowledge and a small lathe that I somewhat know how to use... so I should be find building my own if that is a better option than buying one.
My real questions are what color of laser is best suited for seeing in daytime, and what minimum wattage should I go with?
Thanks in advance, Scheer.
