School has gone back. Making his gaming vids would be his #1 priority after homework and then here. Once again thanks Gun and LB

Thanks Laik ;) Understood, Gaming. Now we know :)

Edit... 7/18/13

Just an update for the people that received a 405nm pen. Pman was nice enough to LPM one and it was putting out a nice healthy 82mw

So Atomicrox and the others you should have a similar output. Everyone should've received there prizes by now. Please PM me if you haven't yet and we'll work it out

Happy Lasing

Sounds good, thanks once again!
Still haven't received but don't worry. International shipments take 1-3 months to arrive here, no matter where they come from or how they're shipped.
Yeah, living here sucks :/

Just a quick update. LivingLoud just LPM'd one of the 405's with his new Rubicon btw. He got an average of 76.9mw, but with a 10440 he got 101.9mw  I'll have to try that

Thanks a lot LL and Pman for taking the time to do that, much appreciated to both of you! Both of you really do a lot behind the scenes and the community is better for it.

Tested. I t was my other that was 95mw. The one you sent does 80-85mW with AAA's and 90-95mW with LiIon.

Are you guys using a regular 4.2V batt or 3.6V LiFePO4? Does it heat up the pen?

They are using a 4.2V. I will test mine with alkaline, a LifePO4 and then a 10440 and see if there's any change in output and post it. The LiFePO4 is basically just like using a couple of lithium batteries (standard non-rechargeables) but their capacity is pretty poor for the AAA. The ones I have are only 260mAH. The AA ones are 700mAH. 10440will generally be around 600mAH. It's what bothers me the most about using LiFePO4. Capacity stinks for the AAA.

Standard AAA alkaline 82mw
LiFEePO4 91mw
10440 101mw

So yes, as others have seen, voltage matters. Most pens like this are VERY stable and seem to have no ill affects (at least from my limited tests) from the extra voltage. Is it worth it? Hard to answer that. Every pen will react differently. Some may have very little increase or may actually drop in output while others may give up to a 50% or more improvement. All the really nice expensive pens I have from places like laserbtb (SKY) have a HUGE increase in output going from (2) to a single 10440. You should assume that the lifespan of your unit will go down. How much? Not a clue. It's a risk assessment you personally have to make.
