Not a bad idea.

Being in a city now that is excellent about having painted bike lanes though, I'd still much prefer that painted bike lanes became a mandate in all cities. But without painted bike lanes, seems like a good idea. Painted lanes FTW.

Putting DPSS lasers on something which has to light up at night.. bad idea. The cold will make the laser extremely dim.
Otherwise a nice idea.

No it's not. A low powered red projecting an image onto a black asphalt surface will not be not be noticeable especially when a car's headlights will drown out the 10% of light that is reflected by the laser.

Well that doesn't make DPSS any more of a good idea. It just means these have to wait until green LDs are developed more and become cheap and common. In most countries this current model will not work at night due to low temperatures, simple as that. Not a single one of my green lasers is more visible than my Dilda after a few minutes in the cold nights here.

Hey CC...
I saw that Laser Bike lane project a few months ago... I could onlly see this
partially viable at night...

I think it would attract more attention to the location of your bicycle if the a laser
was very unfocused and sent out 1-10ms pulses every 250-500ms...

After all.... the Idea is to attract the attention of the driver in the car coming up behind
you to the presence of yourself and your bike..
