This conversation is just droning on. If I had a nickel for everytime someone wanted an all powerful laser for $10... It's silly to just keep forking out $10 bills hoping to get lucky when you should just save them and get something with some quality.
Bottom line is it is a cheap unit and you are gambling on what you get regardless of whether it is a 301, 302, 303 or anything else that inexpensive.
It is much harder to burn with a 532nm because of all the fluctuations and mode hopping especially with units like that. If you want a laser that will light a matchance you are FAR more likely to get one if you buy a 405nm (violet/purple) or 650nm (red).
If you want a decent green you are either going to have to pay a lot more $ or increase your chances by buying some $6 3V or 5V 532nm modules from Fasttech which are usually pretty strong even without adjusting the pot. If you adjust the pot you need to do it properly or it is likely you will set it too high and blow it. This requires test instruments and not just fiddling around with a screwdriver. Don't watch those stupid pot mod videos. The last 3 I bought from them all adjusted to 120mW+. That kind of output isn't guaranteed but these $6 modules are the best deal going.
If you want ideas on very inexpensive good output units look at the links in my sig.
My links may show inexpensive builds but make no mistake, they are not "toys" and must be handled properly;)

I don't think it is an battery issue, the laser can light a match in the first second when the laser is bright, the dot is round at first, but it will dim and turn oval shaped.

This sounds EXACTLY like a battery issue.

Can you first grab a new 18650 cell and try using the laser with it?

Either that, or grab a new laser. There really isn't much to the discussion, IMO.

Please listen to the Pman, those fastech modules are exactly like he says Ive gotten 6 so far. As far as burning im having a blast with his Pman special 405nm pens. Do yourself right and look at his links. Just so you know I cant find anymore matches in my house!:)

Tomorrow I will just test it with a few aa batteries or a little power brick, or the lowest pc power supply output.

[EDIT]
I tested it with 3aa/aaa batteries, and it is still having the same problem.

Just saying, double or triple A batteries do not have the same power as a 18650. You should get a new battery! Sorry about the kinda necro!

Try warming it up. I have a 301 and it needs to be warmed up before its bright. Same exact problem. Hold it in your hand until it's warm and run it for a few seconds at a time.
