Re: Kryton Beast Design Poll (Be a part of it's de

I voted single for a few reasons:

I like my technology small.

I'd much rather have an extra battery in my other pocket than a 10-inch laser with uhh, endurance ;) Unless we are talking about under 10-15 minutes runtime, I would say single all the way!

(is that TWO 10-inch lasers in your pocket or are you just really glad to see me?)

Also, when my runtime is over, I might want to keep lasing...with a dual battery beast I'd need to have two MORE batteries to keep it up.

I would go with single.Like said before, it is overkill. The 2 inch 200mW laser is not overkill, anything can be overkill, except power :D There can never be too much power!! (unless you're looking for a specific task, but if awesomeness is all you want....) ;D

Well, I have to say that this is a very clear and concise poll. The majority has spoken and clearly things lean one way and not the other. NOT!!

Hopefully by a poll like John_lawsons almost unanimous poll to keep the money for the happy wife, you can determine a course of action and take it. Not this one though. Nooooo.

Hehehe vote dammit!!

You know what,
Change one of those votes to Dual to a single. Two batteries is way overkill
But then again, there's no such thing as overkill [smiley=evil.gif]

it looks to me as if everyone's pretty much leaning towards a single battery instead of a dual. Since that was pretty much the way I was leaning, I think I'll end up going that way. Thanks for your guy's input.

I think the biggest downside of dual would be finding buyers. Most people would not feel safe trying to make batteries run parallel in an obviously series style barrel. Then it would require extra space for wiring and secure grounding to prevent shortages and can cause batteries to become loose. You don't want to become liable for people's lasers exploding on them, that and the compact space and metal would only make any mishaps magnify.

Though this seems decided I thought I would throw a few cents into the ring.

I know this is off topic but the heat sink should be of thermal plastics and the handle should be of carbon
fiber. ::) I am a neewbie so it matters not>

I don't even want to think of the cost associated with thermal plastic and a carbon barrel. How much are you plannin on spending?

Whats thermal plastic?
It sounds useless.

I think you should definitely choose single battery. I think it will cause problems not just the people trying to get it to work but for you, too. Not to mention the many complaints you could get if its done with dual batteries, Also I think that 1 battery will be enough unless your planning on running the beast for long periods of time.. and even then you could have a battery on the charger while your using it.

In building a heat sink, it is completely. It's not called "thermal" for it's excelent heat conductivity. :p
