Is it true? I dunno if everybody knows but i have just found out. I didn't realise that Kipkay is going on cable soon, Your Video on TV! | Kipkay.com

This can't be good, if he starts showing people all over the world idiots about lasers and how to build them, he himself may be safe with them but what other people would do is another matter.

Is this old news or somthing??

We should all get together and call the channel to have his show removed.

Don't bother worrying about it. I HIGHLY doubt that the show if aired, will last long, the odds are very much against it.

In terms of safety, seeing something done on tv and doing it yourself are two very different things. The reality shows often leave out crucial elements.

On the flip side he does advocate safety, and this could bring positive attention to our hobby.

IMO knives are quite a bit more dangerous than handheld lasers, and they are not going anywhere, anytime soon. Maybe when more people realize just how common and important lasers are, there will be more common sense and self regulation.

You never know. He has a big following, and his "radio quality" voice would fit on TV.

I dont hate many people, but Kip is high on my list. I really think the guy is a POS.

I'm not defending the guy by any means, but even a piece of $h!t can be used to aid in the growth of a tree.

I'm fairly new to it, and I can tell you that when people find out one of my hobbies is "lasers" I usually get glassy eyed blank stares.

More mainstream attention could be very good. I really don't see how it can do much more damage than the Wicked Lasers marketing fiasco. I mean from marketing standpoint (one of my other professions/hobbies) it was great for their business, but to the laser community it did a lot of damage, basically portraying us as a bunch of teenage idiots who shine lasers at planes and at peoples eyes.

Of course more mainstream attention can also backfire. Time will tell.

@Trevor

So far the attention has been from a very negative perspective. A positive spin on things could do a lot of good.

I mean consider the tons of legal items that are a lot more dangerous, and are permitted as regulated hobbies?
