Just bought a true 30mW DX green

EDIT: Been "playing" with my laser for all day basically, and now I have to apply a lot more pressure to my button for the laser to work. Is their a safe way to fix this without screwing up my laser or am I doing something wrong? Did this happen for anyone else on any lasers?


And what is the BEST way to tell if I am leaking IR/if it has an IR filter? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.469

shine it through some coca cola, or vimto or pepsi, and look towards the laser with a camera .

Make sure you test the camera to see if it picks up IR first though, just point a TV remote at it and press a button, you should see a white light on the camer.

although theres no need to worry about the IR from a 30mW pointer

Yeah you will have a few mW 10mW at most is all you will probably have. As I said no need to worry about IR from lower powered pointers.

There are other ways you can test for it, but thats easiest way .

They did, I guess not anymore. My true 30 is IR filtered, but it is an older version.

if you can pull the cap off your laser (some are harder than others) you can replace the pushbutton with another of a similar style from say a CDROM drive or something - they seem to be having problems with really crappy switches lately - also try putting a piece of foam or something slightly rigid underneath the pcb so when you push the button the pcb doesn't bend down as much

pcb? can you explain this a little more.

pcb is a chipset ... usually green...

hmm if the new wave of True 30s don't have IR filters... can they be sending the normal (non "true" 30s)?
I mean if they are cutting costs on the filter, maybe theyre also getting weaker diodes now

The PCB is basically the board that the switch and all the other components are attached too, if you can fold some paper up and put it down the barrel ( battery end ) you will see the PCB just put the paper under that and that will push it up a little bit.

I had to do this with my Romisen, luckily I did it before it started to bend .
