I got my first laser from olight last week and have been playing around with it for awhile.
Despite a charging problem, the batterys have to be in there just right, im happy. This week i got to play it early in the morning when it was still dark outside , really, really cool.
So where do i go from here? Obviously i want the biggest baddest handheld around.
My question is simply this.
I have read repeatedly that it is not possible to make a hand held 1 watt laser, yet i see lpm showing 1 watt or close to it, am i seeing something wrong?

Seems like the custom builds out preform as well, thoughts?

different amounts of power are attainable with different color light diodes.

445nm is able to go to 2 watts if its an efficient diode

anything over 3-400 mW for 650 nm red is going to be way expensive, same for 532 nm green

405nm bluray maxes out at around 700 mW currently as far as I know, and can be found at this power for 250$ and up

nope im still learning myself but there are quite a few people on here selling lasers that are much nicer and cheaper then the big manufacturers. I hope to start building in the near future, i just gotta learn some more about electric and drivers and get me some electrical tools.

I think thats the easy part, im worried about how to make hosts that dont look like,,,,,,,i made them.:shhh:

LOL just use flashlight hosts until you get good at machining hosts. Jayrob has about 8000000 different kits to easily make lasers.

Yeah i saw those, i just want to know the how and why.
I really want to understand what the drivers do and how they are made.
Plus, i want to make hosts like some here do, they are amazing.

I think what Somedude is trying to say is that you will never find a Artic S3 =>1W
However, you CAN find a 1.2W c6 for less than $150 here on the forums
Some people have builds that peak above 2W, but most higher powered ones are at 1.6-1.8W

It took me about two weeks of free time just ABSORBING information like a friggin sponge from this forum and others learning about how lasers work and what I should start out with. I suggest you do the same.

Stickies are a great place to start, as well the search bar.
If you have a quick question, put it in the search bar, find a suitable thread and read the whole thing :D
I still do this a few times every day ;)

That pretty much sums it up, i didnt know anything about any brand before i came here.
I was recommended a good laser from a manufacturer, its ok, i want more, not from some xyz laser company, from someone who loves this, like i love my hobbies and trade, its what separates the men from the boys

I understand that, however my money is good, i just take no shit from some of these people, disagree with some here and they behave like children and attack your rep, thats disgusting to me and a poor , poor feature of this site.
Rep should be handed out by the mods and or for poor business dealings, NOT for stupid things like disagreeing with someone, children do that and adults with poor brain function.

If you dont want to sell it to me i understand, i may not even like it, but my rep is the result of a flawed system, certainly not for poor character or ethics, quite the opposite.

I think i found it, but remember, im that new at this, i still have no idea what im really looking at :drool:
In my world i want a laser that will double as a light saber :)
