ok so color is the nm

the power is mW

having one with focus will/can intensity the *dot* and will create a "stronger" beam

red is kinda universal and not very bright

blue has a hotter beam than green

green is the brighest and most visible.

is that about right guys?

again this is just the basic's... lets not get into the really deep stuff just yet

There is no hotter or cooler .. blues just come at higher mW at the moment. Two lasers with same mW has same power regardless the color. Just to be clear.

A 300 mW 660 nm (red) and a 300 mw 405 nm (violet) both
put out the same amount of total energy, the 405 nm light just
has more energy per photon, i.e. a violet laser doesn't have to
emit as many photons to output the same power.

Violet - hard to see, fun to play with flourescent surfaces, best burner for power rating. (thats what I think anyway)

i heard that blue or some blues will glow like fluorescent as well.

its really amazing what these lasers can do. tonight when i get home i plan to really do some research and see where the laser started how it was discovered and the future of laser technology.
