I am an airsoft player. Many airsoft sites sell laser pointers for guns so that you can aim without looking through the sights. Well, the lasers on the airsoft sites are very over priced and poorly made. I decided to look for other lasers and I found this site. I have realized that goggles are necessary for laser use. I need a laser that is bright enough to shine visibly about 200m-300m and not hurt anyone's eyes(no one will have on laser goggles). Preferably green. I realize most of you will say goggles are mandatory. I will try my best to not look directly into the beam, and try to keep my friends from looking in it either. I realize that I know nothing about lasers and I probably sound like an idiot, but thank you for reading this far into my post. I appreciate any response I will get.

I have realized that kevlar would be necessary. I need a gun that is strong enough to shoot about 200m-300m and not kill anyone (no one will have on body armor). Preferably .22LR. I realize most of you will say body armor is mandatory. I will try my best to not shoot myself with it, and try to keep my friends from getting shot by it either. There is no laser that will meet your requirements and that will be eye safe, even 5mW lasers are not technically eye safe. Anything with a power density lower than 1mW/cm^2 wont exceed the MPE (maximum permissible exposure) and will be safe. Also it's best to keep the power density even lower than that unless you have a lab grade LPM and beam profiler.

lasers are allowed on guns because normally you intend to KILL whatever you are aiming at. It's vision will be the least of it's worries at that point. you are S.O.L.

its probably 50mW+ and you can seriously blind/injure someone with that, even if they know not to look at the dot/beam. putting a laser on something your pointing at someone is a HUGE no.....you will injure someone and they will get pissed at you and you will get screwed over. just forget about a laser for airsoft, its a cool idea but not practical

why? Just why? Will your airsoft gun actually propel the little plastic ball that far? How far can it shot with accuracy?

I was wondering the same thing as T_warn, but really it's a moot point. I have had full auto airsoft guns, propelled with spring power, highly inaccurate at even 10 meters. I had a desert eagle replica powered by green gas, it was accurate, I even managed to break a thin glass bottle with it once, I'm talking powerful plastic BBs

Keep in mind that it will be over 5mW no matter what. A true 5mW laser will run you a decent penny because they are hard to make. People label them as 5mW to comply with US laws and make import easier. If you send it to a member to be LPM'd I wouldn't be surprised if it is truely 50mW or more.

To answer op... There isn't anything eye safe that is bright.

Now on to airsoft.. If airsoft is anything like paintball (300rd hopper) then you don't even need a sight at all. I just use my balls as tracers and follow them till i'm on target.

Paintball FTW. I've got an Etek 4. We just bought over 65 bunkers this winter to setup our own field as well.

Nice. I only play in the winter months though. I have park close to home. I have a couple autocockers, 1 reg and 1 electro-pneumatic with an eclipse kit. My baby though is my chromed out carter machine!!! I usually play stock class in the semis. Most SoCal plays gave up stock class so there aren't many games set up.
