For only $50 more I managed to get my Rigel(593.5nm), which is an amazing price! All my other lasers either cost under $50, or over $300 so that's the best I got :)

I just got a 1 watt 445nm blue laser from ebay and it's awesome!

Here, this would be a nice starter laser by a member recommended company:

HL 520nm 30mW-500mW

And you might want to go for the 30mW version. (even if the 50mW version is only a few $$ more). The 30mW laser doesn't have enough power to burn but it is plenty enough power to make a visible beam at night. And it is a very high quality product.
Just make sure you use some sort of eye protection for indoor use though. (The laser is 6-30x more powerful than the typical red laser pointers you can buy from Walmart)

Go green to start, it is the most visible wavelength compared to the others, blue isn't bad either if you get a high enough power one and 455nm are cheap for the power output compared to any other laser, but even a 100 milliwatt green has a bright enough beam while with blue or red, you would have to have a much more powerful one to come close to competing with its brightness.

If you are interested in a blue (445nm), here is a ~1W aprox. output in a C6 host, that is up for sale by "crazyspaz", in the BST section right now for only $55.
This would make a good 1st laser, for a reasonable price, and you'd still have almost $100 left to buy another wavelength, or a nice pair of safety goggles!

i know he has some lower mw ones. Reading wolverines sig he has an 80mw already so figured blords would be ideal.
