For me " Glutton " was actually a trustable Member. So i bought a 405nm Laser with 440mW for $ 150 and a Beam Expander for $ 300.
The Laser came half working and the power was around 150mW. Next Day this crap was not working anymore.
The Beam Expander arrived in a DiOptika Case. I was wondering why the case was not big enough for the Expander and the Lenses.
I tried to contact him many times for a Data sheet but he was not able to send me.
Now i found a Thread from him making a self made Expander.

During the sale i was able to find him at the Member Map. Not Today.

So, with the shipping costs i throw $500.- out of the Window.
Facepalm my self !!!

I certinly hope you didn't give some guy making this in his bedroom $450.00 as you can get a professional one for around $230.00
And if he was charging that much it would seem like he was ripping you off on account he could and we realy don't want people like that on LPF so you better come up with some more facts as so far it all looks a bit shady...

And here a sample of a original unit.

15X Beam Expander-15X laser Beam Expander-15X Beam Expanders-15X laser Beam Expanders

Again. For the Laser you see at the Picture $ 150.- / For the Expander $ 300.- / For shipping $ 50.-

@ lazeerer, i posted all the essential Links with Pictures above. Maybe they are not visible for some reasons. Are they? With those links you get all infos you actually need.

I'm sure some of you realised since a while Glutton is not posting anymore.

Any chance you can dispute it via paypal?

Seems very weird that he dropped off the forum like that, no posts in almost a month now...

Anyway, good luck, I hope it works out.

He does very specifically say that he got it from dioptika (at this post):
http://laserpointerforums.com/f49/cool-beam-expander-59173.html#post836977

However, you pointed us to this photo:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w314/Hustler0n3/Photo-0247.jpg
And said that "the big one on top" was the one you're alleging he "made for you"

But in the thread you point to as evidence:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f49/diy-beam-expander-42814.html
He's going through a DIY of the SMALL ONE that is on the BOTTOM in that photo.

I have no idea what really happened here, nor truthfully exactly what you're saying happened, but I think you should clarify more specifically:

1) What was the beam expander (photo) he told you he was selling?
2) What beam expander (photo) did you actually receive?
3) If applicable, what evidence (thread, photo, comment) makes you think the beam expander isn't what he described?

I think that info would be helpful for everyone.

^^^I'll second that. Some more info would be helpful, so far from what I understand a professional Dioptika beam diffuser+laser was promised and ordered.

The sense I get is that instead of getting the genuine Dioptika diffuser a DIY model was sent...

If that's the situation obviously it's bad. Still more info/pictures would be helpful.

This really does sound strange on both fronts...I hope it gets resolved properly either way.

I made an offer on this...

Picture007.jpg

The website price didnt include the 3 add-ons. So it was a good deal.

Did or did you not recieve what is pictured?

The case was made for the large unit, not the 3 add-ons.

Or did you get this...

I got the Big one at the first Picture with exactly those Three Lenses. ( ugly scratched )
I bought this Expander together with a 405nm Laser 150mW ( Glutton's information 440mW ) This Laser came broken. Thats why i need this Expander's Data Sheet. I dont wanted destroy with a to powerful Laser. I asked several times for it but for some reasons he wasen't able to give me.
If i had a $ 500 Deal with someone i would care a bit better.

I dont understand your doubt. I left kindergarten a few years ago. I am here talking to you. Where is Glutton ?!

This post ( Nr. 25 ) made me feel bad about.

So the problem isn't with the Dioptika diffuser, but rather with just a dead 405nm laser?

While that still sucks, it's not quite as bad as
So, with the shipping costs i throw $500.- out of the Window.
Facepalm my self !!!

Did he offer a warranty on the laser? If it was DOA that is bad... however if it worked out of the box... well, unless a warranty was stated you're kind of stuck unless the seller is willing to fix it.

The most I expect as a given if buying from a member of the forum is that the laser works when received. If it was LPMed I would expect the same LPM results within a 10% range, given identical conditions.

In either case, you can get a 400mW 405nm laser for under $120: 400mW blu-ray 405nm laser torch /adjustable/waterproof [OL-405T-400] - $109.00 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

As for sending spec sheets... customer support is nice, but it's by no means a given.

To be honest, I'd be pissed in your situation too.... but unless you're willing to file a dispute, and since Glutton is missing... the next best option would be to maybe ask one of the veterans here for help... in fixing the laser.
