Hey i just bought a green laser for 25 bulgarian lev. It says its 100, 200mw max power. I can barely see the beam inside when its day and it can sort of melt dark glossy plastic and rubber from a cheap watch, its the only things i have tried yet.its not actuall cutting but it makes a tiny crater

Hi XxDaRixX, welcome to the forum

It is very hard to say. Is the beam focused to a tiny point were you are burning or is the beam the same diameter for several meters from the laser?
If so, a real rough guess is around 75mW but like marcuspeh said, you need to measure the output with a LPM to know for sure.

Also no way to know because of IR content is unknown and it's extremely doubtful that it has an IR filter. Laser chick could be right with her guess but as she said, there's no way of knowing without an LPM measurement.

you have a LONG way to go...
start here-its mW NOT mw-never mWs either just mW- MW is mega watt
.
you must use the correct terms if you expect to understand the answers..

-it appears that you do not like to find info on your own- we don't do that very often

we REALLY need you to finish your profile- (your location is needed if you want accurate help..) AND you should go to the welcome section- read ALL the stickies ,then read the intros others have put there- we need you to make one of your own--do not ask any question that you have not tried to answer yourself- search here-at google-and Sam's Laser FAQ- if all this is too much to ask--BYE!

ALSO we really need you to FINISH your profile and make an 'intro' thread in th

I have tried to find answers but there is no clear answer that i can find. And sorry for not using mW. I knew it was a difference between mW and MW 😜

No clear answer to what? IR Filters or power measurements?

There is no way to get an accurate power measurement without a power meter.

As for IR filtering, it takes literally 10 seconds to find plenty of information on that. Whether or not they are needed has been debated for years but the general consensus is that yes, you should always buy a laser (For 532nm green anyway) with an IR (Infra-red) filter or use IR safety glasses if it doesn't have one.

Let me google that for you
