How many MAs should I be feeding the Osram PLP450 450nm Laser Diode.

How man MAs can the Osram PLP450 450nm Laser Diode handle. Tell me the recommended and the maximum overdrive.

That is a new diode and it appears there may be no data sheet on it, or at least not yet. From DTR's testing I would say the maximum is about 375mA and the recommended would be something less, maybe 325mA, but I would be interested in DTR's opinion on this. I myself would wait until others have had them awhile and see if anyone burns theirs out. You may want to consider a PL450B for a low power, or the PLTB450B for something high power.

Yea at this point I would suggest 300mA-350mA till we get more familiar with the diode. For sure that is a safe current but some may want to push them to try to get higher wavelengths.:)

Yes it's possible, the one I built meters at 1913mW with a G2 lens. If I put it in a tripod or on a table pointing it at a wall or door or whatever long enough to take a photo, it will leave a burn mark even in wood, it can even set paper on fire, so you have to be careful with it. It's not safe to just point it around inside at anything.

What is the best blue laser diode. For a good price and at 100-700mw
