So, I'm probably going to earn a bad reputation for this, but...

I found kids at my school are willing to pay 15-25 dollars for slightly overspeced laser pointers you can get on eBay for $4 a pop.

Since safety is a top concern, I print out a sheet of basic rules they should follow with their new laser warning them about the dangers of the beam and reflection. I haven't had any issues with some dumbass pointing it at anyone's face yet. Then again, I usually won't sell them to people I know are going to be irresponsible with it.

Everyone's fascinated with how you can "feel the heat if you keep it on your arm for ten or so seconds"

I sold three $4 lasers in one day, making about a $35 profit!

Careful. You're going to be liable if someone does something stupid with those.

Right... So far I've only given them to a few of my friends. I'm not planning to pass out many more, so I hope I can keep the whole thing under control.

You are responsible for your own action. That too will be taught on school.

i personally would make them sign a release before the sale. legally stating, in any circumstance, i have no responsibility of the misuse of any light emitting diodes, uncollimated or not.

I went and quoted this so when the trial comes up there would be evidence. In the past when this came up there was no record for the feds, well I'm just doing my civil duties.:D

Friends = kids...

This really isn't that big of a deal, is it?

If someone does something stupid with theirs then I'll stop selling them. I shouldn't be reliable for what they do just because I sold them the laser.

Either way, this probably isn't a good habit to be getting in, and this thread kind of made me realize how foolish some people could get with semi-powerful lasers.

I, personally, am not in this hobby to make money. It's for the love of it. If you wanna make money, get a degree, open a store, and then with the right permits you can sells pointers to adults with proper id, or to kids under the table. I'm not gonna tell you how to run your store

No way to know as of yet. But you'll be the first to.

You obviously know the answer to your question just by the way you started your post. " I'm probably going to get a bad reputation from this " is the calling card of a poor decision. I'm sure many a girl in your school can attest to that!

I'm not sure how he could really be liable for someone Else's actions. yeah it might not be a great idea but that would be kinda like if i bought a gun from someone or somewhere then used it to shoot people! I'm responsible for my actions not the person selling the gun correct.

I believe if a man owning a gun store sold a high school kid a hangun, and the kid went and shot some people, the gun store owner would probably be seeing some repercussions..
There are age restrictions on things for a reason. I'm not sure about where you live, but where I live you wouldn't be able to buy a 1mw red pointer from walmart without proper id or at least looking old enough
