If you blind them, even if they DO stab or shoot you, they can still sue you... and WIN. That's how screwed up our justice system is.  :p

An old lesson taught to me in the service.

You do NOT want someone that you shot, standing up in court, telling a story that is different than yours. . . . .Pull the trigger again

Peace,

I think this happens in most countries.Apparently you can only use a weapon for self defense if you're on your own property, otherwise, no matter what, YOU're the bad guy.

yup, in the wonderful state of Florida, you can shoot ANY person that you "suspect" to be attempting to cause harm to you, your family members, or your property.

And yet you guys can't even (legally) use a tazer. ;D

I've tried to cauterize a few knife cuts I've gotten and it didn't do anything except put me through pain.

Of course there are a few of us here with lasers that could probably cauterize a small cut artery! Or the sort where the laser itself can cut you - but hey, at least you won't bleed!

About the type of wound. The cuts or dried skin progressing to a deep cut is the one by the finger nails. The other kind that responded well to heat are scrapes that lay open the skin so that it bleeds drip, drip, drip until you attend to it. I guess that would be capillary damage type.
A man who used to work in the logging camps in Canada told me a story. They would wear leather gloves but the braided steel rope used for chokers would fray and poke through the leather into the skin along with all the bacteria. They were 20 miles into the woods in a camp and the nearest doc was 20 miles away. There were stories of men who had to have fingers and hands amputated because of infection.
The remedy for this was this. If you got poked with the frayed steel rope you would make a pot of scalding hot water as soon as you got back to camp. Along with this a pot of cold water. For about 15 minutes alternately dip the finger or hand into the hot water and when you cant stand the pain into the cold. Back and forth like this for 15 minutes. It works and there is not one doctor who has explained the healing effect to my satisfaction. "Well the water has a cleansing effect on the wound", "It increases the circulation". I think it stimulates the immune system somehow.
Try this next time you need, its simple fast and painful but really works. I just fill a cup with cold water and run the tap as hot as I can stand it. The hotter the better.
The point to all this is the laser did all this in about 30 seconds without water.

If you know you're bound to get your hand poked by rusty steel rope, you might want to carry a first aid kit with alcohol and antibiotics just in case. ;D
Anyway, the hot water could also kill trace bacteria in your wound because if the wound is fresh there's only a few of them at the surface and probably can't stand 70[sup]o[/sup]C or such. And the wound obviously heals faster with no infection.Maybe it's the same thing happening with a laser. :-/
