I had my LPM-1 and Die4Thing meter next to each other and tested them
they give pretty much the same readings

I have a few questions about the LPM-1 though
- how do you guys hold up the external attenuator? (the tiny little lens that comes with it for powers above 100mW)
- isn't there a program or something I need to download after I plug it into my comp?
- is it wise to clean the sensor with a lenspen?

Few more tests before I pack up the die4thing meter and have it shipped off to Senkat ;)

For the serial cable, I copied Dr_Lava's post from CPF:

Serial data capture is fairly simple. plug in the phone connector to the place inside the battery compartment, plug the other end into your serial port. Open hyperterminal and set it to 57600-8-N-1. Connect and you should be seeing data stream in. Click Transfer, capture text, and choose the text file to dave the data to. When finished, click transfer, stop capture. The file then can be opened in excel, open office, graphan, etc for plotting.

Hemlock Mike found a good solution for mounting the filter...but I can't find the thread where he explained it..I will keep looking.

Not sure about the lenspen...

I would not use a lensepen for cleaning the sensor - since hte sensor is silica based, you could scratch it up with the graphite of the lensepen - thus rendering it useless :(

What is the best method of cleaning it??
The obvious thing to do is never get it dirty in the first place I know ::)

under transfer set capture text file.. then open that file in excel when you are done.

hyperterminal only has a scrollback buffer of a few hundred lines so if you log for more than a few minutes you'll start loosing data if you aren't doing a text capture.
