Goodies inside old laser printer?

I searched and was not able to find if this question had been asked before. What kind of goodies can be found inside a laser printer? What optics? What type laser? Which brand/model laser printer has better goodies than others?

Thanks for any input.

Laser printers will probably have a low/medium output IR laser diode, some lenses, and a spinning mirror - faster printers will probably have a more powerful laser and a faster mirror motor.

Not a ton of worthwhile laser pieces but if its gonna be going in the trash i'd take it apart. Plus all the other stuff like the paper feed motors and whatnot.

Ah, ok. I don't have one that is going in the trash. Was thinking about hitting the pawn shops for a cheap laser printer to tear apart. Sounds like it most likely wouldn't be worth putting money out for. Thanks for your input.

theres a weak IR diode, a line generating motor ( motor with mirror on ) and a front surface mirror, thats it in the way of optics really.
