Smile Good power supply + lens for 660nm 200mw

So recently i just bought this laser:
660nm 200mW Red Laser Diode Module DIY Lab Astronomy | eBay

I dont have any "real" lithium batteries to power it, so at the moment im using a set of D batteries(brand new AA and AAA batteries didnt do it). it can pop a balloon in about 10-20 seconds at about 15 feet, however cannot light a black match anywhere near up close. It wont sting bare skin, even after around 30 seconds or so, and it turns to a HUGE (~10 feet?) red dot at around half a mile, with a beam barely visible at night. Right then, i looked into the module(while its off) and noticed that it didnt come with any lens -_-
my 50 mw from led shop pops it in about the same amount of time up close, but from afar (like 10 feet) it has no hope..
So now my question is:
What batteries should i use for this?
and
What is a good set of lens i can use?

The eBay ad mentions a "glasses lens" and the picture shows a lens in the image. If yours did not come with one, I would go whine about it to the seller.

However, it does not look like it is easy to alter the focus on your module. I see this in lab lasers, too.

Now, regarding power. Are you aware that many of the varying size of lithium ion batteries are around the same voltage? The same goes for your common household AAA, AA, C, and D batteries.

Usually, many of us are putting these things into modified flashlights (hosts) and it is the host that often controls what battery we choose and use.

If you do not intend to make this portable, then it may be simpler if you just use a power supply that plugs into the wall. But if you DO want it to be portable, then what to you plan to mount it in to?

I'm not sure why the AA batteries (2x = 3.0v) didn't work, they should be able to handle the 350mA draw (ebay details) of the driver. I am not going to take the time to type out every possible battery that may work with this, but some of them are:

1x IMR 18650 (3.7v)
1x IMR 16340 (3.7v)
2x AA (3v)
2x C (3v)
2x D (3v)

Any other battery with sufficient capacity and able to deliver >350mA of current at 3v.

Edit:

If you want to change the lens, and/or make it focussable by turning a focus ring, you will need to extract the diode (using the proper tool) and press it into an Aixiz module. An acrylic lens will do at that output power.

jArdi;

The EBay photo shows an adjustable lens in the brass housing.

I would contact Rayfoss about your focus problem.

If it does have a lens, then you could adjust it by peeling away the material locking the lens in place.

I like quality #18650 cells for any laser pointer application.

To test your module, I would only charge the cell to about 3.6 VDC.

thats probably what i would be doing.....
looking into the module, it actually looks like there IS a lens, but its very far, far down..nowhere near where it is in the picture.

Tried C batteries; didnt work to either....
But for the host, at the moment this is the host im planning on using. If nothing fits, ill be willing to spend a max of ~$15 for a new one.

i have a total of 12.6cm of space length wise, so minus the module+driver (5.6cm) i have about 7cm length total for battery space.
As for width, the inside has fins made to hold AA batteries, but could cut those out to give me a max of 2.2, maybe 2.3 cm max.

theres glue holding it in place.
I will look into those

also, any idea where i can find a list of batteries + dimensions? from there i could probably find what i need
Thanks for the help though

I will be contacting Rayfoss though; the button doesnt work either so if he doesnt care about the lens, the button doesnt work either so ill just add that in there (though i dont plan on using the button)

Lets see . . . .

Where is a central U.S. based LPF member . .

who has been selling those top quality Panasonic #18650 cells online with PayPal ?

With a link in their signature ?

Note: if your device uses 2 cells, you will need the raised + terminal option.

if that is a plastic host, she'll do a poor job wicking heat away from the diode.
