Grey is the best, no doubt. I have not heard if they promise shipment or not, but I imagine even grey could be overridden by higher ups in the company, esp if customs does step up siezures. how could they make a profit if more and more are taken? I don't know if it's happening or mean to scare you , just make you aware. three different companies have stopped shipping here I believe all within the last year, CNI, Laserglow, and recently, wicked lasers

the hosts are nice, sure. I have nothing against JL, I actually have shared over a hundred emails with grey. they do have a few features very rare in custom builds. I have never seen the guts, so I can't make an opinion of how well or poor the heatsinking is, I was just saying the 4W diode kinda takes the heat thing to a new level.

2W is plenty power. plenty enough to land in deep doo doo too. remember to always show it the greatest respect.

yes, the Beam expanders come in black, not sure about silver. the expander is one of the coolest laser accesories to have. might be tied with diffraction gratings

if your addiction grows, consider a custom build next time. there are plenty here I'd take over any company made one, the sky is the limit

I was writing the same exact posts less than 2 months ago. Congratulations on your order those are some seriously nice lasers. I just wanted to add my 2 cents on colors. Im a green lover especially the 532's. I dunno just something about that tight bright beam that just does it for me. I have a few lasers now in my signature and coming next week I have a bunch more on the way and some custom hosts. The hardest part is waiting. They take a while to get here but I read Jet lasers is super fast. Im going to build my own 520nm 1W and some others pretty soon.

This hobby gets seriously addictive and this forum is a really great Online community. I hope you enjoy your new toys. Do you have a god pair of safe glasses?

Here is a shot of my 532 metered at 419mW. Good call on getting a 532! They are SOOOO bright!

Thanks folks! I don't have goggles yet. I didn't want to order them from JL. I figured I would be better off getting them somewhere else because I would have more choices. In fact, I was going to start a new thread to discuss the that and other must-have/fun accessories to have.

don't start a new thread to ask about glasses, just search around, you will find what you need. most opt for survival lasers, but they are slightly expensive, though not compare to the money you just spent, and the value of your vision. may be good to get two pairs, so another person can watch the dot up close too, like while burning

I will definitely look into them. Thank you! I didn't start a new thread just for glasses. I wanted to discuss other accessories/toys as well.

I emailed JetLasers on the 20th and got an email response back on the same day. The email made me feel very comfortable about doing business with them. I asked if I had protection in case my laser was seized by customs. This was the email I received from Gray:

Dear Anthony,
Thanks - we understand your concern well - yes there is a chance but you are protected and we guarantee you receive it without customs issues - if it happens, we resend or issue full refund.

we usually declare it as a flashlight in a lower value.

Anyway dont worry - we will keep you posted since we will ship the order out early next week.

Thanks for everything.

$859.96 in one package shipped from China. :scared: That is just a little less than the cost of all five of my laser builds. I would have no problem loosing weight and would not sleep until they arrived. When you have them post pictures please. The beam expander looks high quality. I can personally verify that a 2W 445 will be very impressive with good burning capability. The 500 mW should be incredible, even my 82mW 520nm has a visible beam. Did you get proper batteries and a charger? Charge the batteries before you first use them. Order safety glasses soon if you haven't yet, the dot is too bright to look at up close or when burning things. Do you have some kind of tripod and clamp? You will need one sometimes, mainly for taking photos. Be careful with the 2W, it can be a fire hazard and leave burn marks. Best of luck with those and congratulations on your new toys.

A small discount would be nice. Do they do this?

By the way, I just looked at my credit card statement and they overcharged me. My total including shipping was supposed to be $859.96. They charged me $880.62 plus my bank charged me a foreign transaction fee of $8.81. I called my bank and they waived the fee for me, but I am really concerned with the overcharge. If I was someone who didn't check his numbers too often, they would have gotten away with charging me that extra amount. I sent them an email today to question them about it and will update you all when I hear back. Hopefully they just messed up with the conversion rate and it will be a quick easy fix.

And if someone can confirm that they do or don't give a discount to members of these forums I would really appreciate it. Maybe I can get them to ship me a free pair of safety goggles.

Haha I hear ya. I was a little worried too! We will see. I definitely plan on post a full review on these lasers. There will be lots of pictures and video. Probably get some cool macro shots in there too.

I did not purchase the batteries yet. I am a big flashlight guy and I usually order batteries from a company in the US. My battery of choice is the Orbtronic Protected 18650 3400mAh. They are really good batteries that actually push the numbers that they claim. I will probably get a 4 pack from Amazon when they are available again. Or maybe I will order direct from Orbtronic. Here is a link to those batteries:

Orbtronic Batteries

I already have a bunch of chargers here but according to JetLasers they send a free battery charger too.

Don't worry about the overcharge--Jetlasers is 100% honest, trustworthy, and reliable---they will credit you back the difference--just let them know the total was not correct

on the battery side ---the 445nm 2W PL-E Pro series 445nm Blue laser takes 2X16340 or RCR123A(3.6V) by default. With battery tube extension, it can also run on two 26650/18650 lithium batts, one of which needs to be in button top, so as to keep two batts in good contact.

With only one 18650 the 2W 445nm may run but at reduced output. If you did not order the extension to be able to use two 26650/18650 you will need 2 X 16340 for it-----the 532 takes only 1 battery 18650 or 26650. You might want to look for some king kong 26650 4000mA to get maximum output and run time out of both lasers.

Nice buy---2 really great professional level high quality lasers---you can't go wrong with Jetlasers --they are the best.

Yes, I am really excited to get these lasers!

I sent another email to Gray to go over a few things. I will start with the battery question. I asked him if I needed any special extension and he said one was not needed. He said that the 532nm will run on a single 18650 battery. He said for the 445nm to run on 2x 18650 batteries, I need to use two button top type to make it contact. His exact words:

"Speaking of the batts, yes you can use 18650 batts with the 532nm that runs on a single 18650 - for 445nm that can run on two 18650s, you need use two button top type to make it in good contact you know."

I am not sure what he means by that. What is two button top type? Can anyone clarify this for me?

Is it safe to use 2x 26650 4000mA batteries in the 445nm? Does anyone here have experience doing that? Anything I should be concerned with? If it is better, I will purchase the 26650's instead.

Now as for the price overcharge situation, I am having a bit of a struggle with that. Gray is being very helpful, but he is saying that the "gateway provider company" says that they only charged me $859.96 and did not charge me any extra. I called my bank once again to make sure there wasn't any extra hidden fees on their part, and they confirmed that it was JetLasers that charged me this extra amount. Where the heck is this extra charge coming from? Is the company that JetLasers uses trying to get over on someone? Gray told me to send him my paypal info and he would send me the difference. Once again, great customer service. I just want people to make sure that they keep track of things when dealing with foreign companies. I hope this gets resolved smoothly so that I can continue to give them my business.

The batteries are available in both button top or flat top. If it takes 2 batteries you will need button top, if it takes 1 battery then a button top will still always work but if it has a spring at both end then a flat top will also work, otherwise it won't make contact.

If it's made for 18650's you can't use 26650's, there is a huge difference in the size of those batteries. Make sure you have a Li- Ion charger that fits whatever batteries you need to use.

PL-E pros can use either, they come with sleeves to go around 18650s and make them wider if they are used

Yes the 532nm model runs on lower voltage-- one 18650 or 26650 needed using 2 can damage the driver.

The 445nm needs higher voltage thus two batteries --either 2 X 16340 or with battery tube extension 2 X 18650 or 2 X 26650

Both are built to take 26650 batteries which are the optimal choice for maximum runtime and fit perfectly in the battery tube which is designed for them ---to use 16340 or 18650 you need to use a plastic sleave JetLasers privides to reduce the inside diameter of the battery tube.

What Gray is saying is if you use 2 18650 or 26650 one has to be button top to make good contact with the other battery bottom/- side.. I would assume you can also use 2 button tops. If you use 2 flat top you will need a small round magnet to put on the + side of one battery so it makes good contact with the battery - above it.

I would guess the 445nm comes with the battery tube extension but it would not hurt to ask if you are planning on using 2X 18650 or 2 X 26650.

Copy proof of what you were charged to Gray so he can investigate why. Sounds like someone in the middle has added on.

I didn't know that, that is a nice extra feature to build in. In that case, PhillyAnt the answer is that you will get longer run time before you need to recharge, that would be the only difference but 2 18650 will provide long run time too, there would also be a difference in weight.
