Hey guys,

Well amazingly the lady who fired me a few weeks ago re-hired me for the next 3 days(I leave for another part of France then) and I should make about $180-$200.

Anyway.....as most of you know I currently have been making a <5mW pointer collection and I love the hosts which are offered by both LG & CNI. That being said I find the PGL-III hosts that CNI offers to be simply stunning and most of the wavelengths are offered in that host.

Now is the $1 million dollar question. Do you guys think it would be worth it to sell my collection and use the money to buy PGL-III's or would stability be the same and I would only be throwing my money away. I kept thinking about this all day and I can't get it out of my head :wtf:

I don't see much point. Just any new wavelength you buy can be in the pgl3 host. You didn't mention which one , is it the pgl-m (think spartan host) C (most common, has the pronounced heat sink) or the A?

True.

My next wavelength will most likely be 405nm and CNI quoted me $80(without shipping) for their 5mW GLP pen it's either that or a PGL-III-A which is not what im looking for & would be more expensive. LaserGlow on the other hand has their "Electra" retailing for $279(dropped to $179 last sale period) and I don't think im willing to spend that much for a wavelength such as 405.

Im trying to save up my money to buy a car while trying to purchase lasers which are good quality, but im willing to make sacrifices to get a good unit and not a eBay 405 pen.

The III-C's are not really hosts you'd want to have a 5mW laser in. Unless its an obscenely obscure wavelength... even then that's not a good idea. Just my $.02

It's such a beefy host for such little power. Really you'd only see performance increases in the DPSS pointers... even then, it wouldnt be too much.

I'd take a 5mW pen over a 30mW III-C anyday.

Some advice (!) from someone who drives:

skimp on the laser, not a car. A few hundred $$ could make the difference between an OK runaround which might get you home to a better vehicle which most probably will get you home. If you don't have any knowledge of how to fix basic faults, which most people don't, you shouldn't skimp on your wheels.

It sounds like you have the Hot Pocket Syndrome. That is where new money just burns a hole in your pocket until you spend it.

If I might make a small suggestion. Read a little bit about financial planning. I know right now you don't have bills or anything and one thing I wish I had done is saved from my first job. As quickly as I got the money I spent it, and after 2 years of work you know what I had to show for it? 80 bucks or so and a lot of watched movies and ingested combo meals. You can always find things to spend money on, but now when you have few financial responsibilities is when you should begin thinking about fiscal responsibility. Don't let a dollar leave your wallet unaccounted for. You worked for it, and only you can make sure it isn't squandered. I am not telling you don't buy something. What I am saying is be wise about what you do buy.

/advice

PS - keep building your pen collection. 5mW PGL-III-C will be bulky and for no reason. And trust me, the host isn't as cool in person.

Thank you IT. What im planning on doing is just spending the rest of the money I earn on tripods for my 593.5, Aquarius & Taurus. The rest of the money will be saved towards my first vehicle which I will need sooner or later :)

I just wouldn´t invest into tripods which are able to held a DSLR with BG for a 100g laser.

Mini Portable Tripod for Camera Camcorder DSLR MAX2 5kg | eBay
Bike Handlebar Mount 1 4 Screw Clamp Bracket Tripod for Camera DV DSLR Monitor | eBay

Btw, anyone able to find the clamp mount I listed here? Can´t find it anymore. +rep for the first sending me the link :)
